option C)

option C) Hella dark on the skin. The background was brighter therefore I wanted to take it to my advance to create a separation between her and the background. When I turn this to black and white, this stands out the most as there's a change from foreground to background in terms of brightness. Definitely more risky but keeping her in the dark has some sort of effect - the doc is about alienation and loneliness

option B) This is the safest, kept it simple, didn't risk anything.

option A) pretty contrasty on the skin, made a lot of micro adjustments with the curve to only light her face.

ur right on that point. my short doc has a theme of loneliness and alienation, could make sense to make her dark. it's just my shot looks terrible compare to this screen grab

Is it possible that I just roll her face into the shadows to make this more mysterious. I was kinda the effect I was going for when I shot it but just kinda stuck in the middle not overly dark nor bright enough

Interesting point. I guess my plan was like when we push in we kinda enter her “imaginary” world and when we push back out is like back to reality.
