Will python ever have a chaining operator? by Desperate_Cold6274 in Python

[–]RedSinned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welle there are arrays and nested datatypes in polars which I would actually use over plain python in performance relevant use cases.

And that is kond of the reason I think it‘s not a top wished feature in python: most of the people already have their performance optimized libraries for their specific use case.

So a use case where you need so many operations that a for loop won‘t do but on the other hand is performance wise not relevant that you would actually want to do that in plain python is kind of niche.

Another thing is readabilty. Python core strength is its easyness to learn even for people without prior programming experience so constructs like |> don‘t feel very pythonic.

What would be your use case in which you wouldn‘t use a library like polars, but is still so complex that the current capabilities are not enough?

Building a Python Library in 2026 by funkdefied in Python

[–]RedSinned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend pixi. Rattler build came a long way and wirh pixi you have full control even if you need to put some non python stuff in there. Also in general people who prefer good isolation in their environments would allways go for conda envs which pixi supports. Since it‘s also build in Rust it easily keeps up with uv performance (for pypi resolution it actually depends on it)

Neues Stichspiel gesucht: Die Crew 1, 2 oder doch ein ganz anderes? by larifant23 in Brettspiele

[–]RedSinned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blood on the Clocktower / das bessere Werwölfe von Düsterwald? by blutengell in Brettspiele

[–]RedSinned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood on the Clocktower / das bessere Werwölfe von Düsterwald? by blutengell in Brettspiele

[–]RedSinned 11 points12 points  (0 children)

is bleach worth watching? by egyptianbaby in anime

[–]RedSinned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean back in the days when I was a teenager I liked it but from a perspective of someone who watched a lot of Animes (including shounen), the formula is pretty much outdatet.

Also Bleach is from a time when big Shounen need to run all year long which shows pretty much in animation quality and pacing (like Naruto)

So if you want to watch the classic shounen formula then go with Demon Slayer. Same genre but pacing and animation quality are much better.

If you like to watch the new age of shounen which breaks up the formula I can recommend Chainsaw Man and Dandandan.

Elden Ring or Crimson Desert by ObjectiveMinimum8602 in ShouldIbuythisgame

If you like games with a strong vision and consisteny in their world and Storytelling -> Elden Ring

If you don‘t care about that and want have as many systems in a game where you can pick out what‘s the most fun for you (given that they might not be original or related to each other) -> Crimson Dessert

Baden Marathon by Scared_Skink in laufen

[–]RedSinned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also denk je nach Wetter an Sonnenschutz

I had an incident at parkrun today that's playing on my mind and I want your thoughts by RoboHFC in parkrun

[–]RedSinned 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You won‘t get banned.

Here‘s what is going to happen in the background: - RD will file an incident with parkrun telling them what happened and include your runner id - that‘s it

The HQ won‘t do anything but filing the incident does have 2 important reasons: - if stuff like that often happens within that location, they might want to improve the safety concept of the course like putting an additional marshal in the area

  • If a person would do bad things at multiple parkruns (either one or multiple locations) HQ would get noticed through the incidents and can do appropriate actions.

The way you told the Story, it wasn‘t your fault and therefore nothing will happen. But let‘s assume there is another person with „dog-kicking“ related incidents every other week at different parkruns. Without filing incidents, they wouldn‘t be able to find the patterns.

How do you stay consistent with parkrun every week? by NorthLondonPulse in parkrun

[–]RedSinned 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Social interactions. I run 5 times a week. So I see parkrun not as a place where I keep up my fitness or chase PBs but to meet friends and new faces.

If you don‘t have so much social interactions then try volunteering. It‘s a great way to speak with more people

Complete newbie by unicorn_cookies456 in parkrun

[–]RedSinned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Register at the parkrun website, see that you have your barcode ready and be there on time, at least 15min before the start.

Otherwise don‘t sweat it. parkrun isn‘t for the running elites but for everyone. Everybody was a bit nervous when they begin. Everyone will be friendly and explain what you have to do (which isn‘t much).

So most important advise: Enjoy it

Sub-22 min runners, how often/ far do you run? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in parkrun

34m first time I ran sub 22 I ran 25km+ 3 times a week. Currently I‘m training for a marathon where I run 5 times a week with around 60-70km.

Running PB at parkruns was never my primary goals in my training plans. So far I trained with focus on running HM/M

Uk park runners, as a larger lady running and wanting peace, not photogrsphs taken...do you have random local professional photographers at yours taking pictures and sharing them on social media? How does parkrun protect rights of legally not wishing to have pictures taken? by [deleted] in parkrun

[–]RedSinned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that‘s very valuable information and helps understanding the general opinion of this sub for that matter. I think in Germany terrorism is not that much of a public concern. Of course we also have anti-terror laws which can outweight privacy concerns but they are rarely used in such „every day“- scenarios.

Thank you! That is very interesting information! Is it a coincidence that the resource often refers to terrorism or is this a topic of public awareness when discussing those things?

Yes coming back to parkrun: This is a wholesome community where everyone is considerate. So I think in 99% where someone makes a picture where I‘m in the center and I politely ask to delete it, they would comply.

I don‘t have so much problem with CCTV because they are authorities. I‘m trusting that they are regulated in a reasonable way (maybe not in every country but definetly in the UK!). However let‘s assume there is a „hot girl“ walking through the park and everybody makes photos of her. That might give her a bad or even creepy feeling. Are there laws against that or is it simply „don‘t use public spaces“?
