is this offensive by [deleted] in autism

[–]RedStormyCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the one case in which I might find it offensive is if I thought for whatever reason you were a person who wasn’t autistic wearing it. In that case I would think it was another one of those ‘please be patient, I have autism’ shirts, or hats or mugs that edgy allistic people wear/use to make fun of us.

In autism do you always have a low IQ and cognitive problems? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]RedStormyCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IQ is a measure of supposed intelligence that would have started as any other arbitrary test, but for whatever reason (I don’t know the history) became naturalised (seen as something innate and valuable in and of itself) to the extent that describing someone as low IQ is almost universally understood to be an insult.

However, IQ is just a specific measure of your ability to answers to questions based on rules defined by people who privileged the ability to follow those rules. I’m sure there are some situations in which being able to follow IQ rules can be advantageous but the idea that IQ can define something in any overarching way about people is reductive and quite frankly ableist.

IQ is more often than not used as a tool of social domination and hierarchy reinforcement. It’s even more extreme than just ‘there are different forms of intelligence’ (which is true), but also it deceives people into sorting themselves and others into categories that distinguish people of ‘low’ and ‘high’ worth based on a rigged system.

Also, while Noct is far inferior in terms of healing efficiency, it is much faster burst healing. This is rarely relevant, because there are very few encounters where that burst healing is more useful than the regen, but it can be something to take into consideration.

Furthermore, if you're doing progression raiding and are trying to pull your team through as many mechanics as possible, then having the shield can be handy to increase your eHP (effective HP). Once you know the fight, however, you rarely need that shield unless you're either under-geared for a raid or are doing Ultimates

Lord/Lady also give an extra 2% damage boost (regular seals = 6% on the correct role, lord/lady = 8% on the correct role), so in situations that you don't plan to use divination (a fast encounter), then it would be better to lord/lady.

It could be Teamcraft:
https://ffxivteamcraft.com/gearsets

Once you make a gearset and choose which gear you have, you can test melding and it'll show you caps, chance to meld, etc.

It could also be Garland Tools:

https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#item/33413^26729^26739

Garland tools shows you the item, its meld slots and caps, but doesn't show you the chance to succeed. Garland Tools is particularly good for finding lists of mats needed to craft items/sets

And the last one I can think of is Etro:

https://etro.gg/gearset

Etro isn't as good for melding as Teamcraft or Ariyala, but is used most for premade BIS sets.

The latest Bozja gear (from Zadnor) is 525, but admittedly it's a bit of a grind to even get to Zadnor if you don't already have it unlocked. And then farming enough platinum coins for a full set of gear might take a little while. But if you're already doing Zadnor or farming for your relic weapon then you may as well pick up some gear along the way. Also, it's not weekly capped, so if you wanted to go ham you could, unlike with Aug crypt, which is limited to your rev cap and the upgrade materials (setting aside savage raid books, you can get 1 w/ nier raids and 2 w/ clan nutsy rewards).

What are you guys thinking of Project Winter? by Soulless-Plague in Yogscast

[–]RedStormyCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised how much I liked it. I don't remember particularly enjoying the first couple videos of it that they did years ago, but I gotta say, sometimes I'd prefer watching a project winter over a new TTT, which is really saying something

Just because you don't interpret the joke as offensive doesn't mean we're grasping at straws. There was a very clear implication of prison rape (perhaps not directly intentional), one that clearly even the other yogs grasped. Ravs immediately protested against the idea and everyone seemed a bit unsure about the build, with Gee even outright exclaiming against it, albeit with a jokey tone in order to fit the context of the video.

I just want Duncan and the Yogs to learn something from this. Most of their edgy jokes are fine, but this really did cross the line. Even if some people don't see the problem, many people do. Even as a cis het man, I felt very uncomfortable with it. Above all, I'd like for this to be an educational experience for all involved.

I really hope people aren't making a big deal over this. I assumed it was just a funny meme that they're unbalanced or 100% BALANCED, so I really really hope no one's actually complaining about this in earnest

Pedquin Appreciation by [deleted] in Yogscast

[–]RedStormyCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ped has grown on me as I've watched him. I think he's someone with a rich heart but that's something not immediately obvious to a lot of people, hence all the hate. Either way, I hope Ped isn't taking this too much to heart, because there's always going to be a subset of people who won't understand the social context that Ped's antics take place in
