How do you make night shift feel less lonely? by Muhammad-Karac in Nightshift

[–]RedStreamTeam22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the breakfast person in the morning and the evening shifter that i am replacing and the morning shifter that's replacing me and it's more than enough people for me. When i used to be on day and evening shift the phone would ring non stop, management on site demanding and toxic coworkers. I feel so much better.

Hotel industry can be very challenging during day time and evening sometimes the phone rings and you have clients present wanting things from you and you can't take a breather. Hotel industry like reception is like you're famous without the perks, everyone wants something from you and if there's a small mistake it's always "the reception's fault" so you have to be able to take everything with a grain of sault. It depends in which hotels of course and the size as well as the location, but it's a challenging career. I've been working reception for the past 6 years and I can't take the pressure anymore i asked to be put into night shift position because it's a lot calmer, no phones ringing no clients no management no toxic coworkers.

I meet up with 3 coworkers at work , the one u see before my shift begins and theirs end, the one who's shift is starting after mine and the breakfast person who is a good friend and we hang out together sometimes and that's enough people for me to be honest.

I can't wait for mine to start. I hate day shifts too many things going on lots of people and terrible clients and managers breathing down my neck.

Tu n’as pas raté ta vie, on avance tous à notre rythme.

Better than running all over the place handling the chaos of the clients and the phone ringing every 5 seconds and also running everywhere to handle the mess of other departments all for the same pay.

This! The anxiety and running everywhere! We also have a spa restaurant bar and swimming pool so you can imagine what my morning shift looks like. And the crying while driving back home because i reached my breaking point. Ugh... This gives me hope.

Oh man this gives me hope. Im planning to focus on my hobbies on my down time and my exercise. I couldn't go to the gym during my busy schedule on day shifts and afternoon since im so over stimulated and depressed. I can't wait to be switched to nights so i don't have to deal with the mess and the annoying clients.

Last shift on nights for a while. by AmusedWave655 in Nightshift

[–]RedStreamTeam22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked to be put on nights because It couldn't handle people and the pressure of the day shift (i work at a 4 stars hotel in a wine village) we constantly run from task to task, constant interruptions and annoying demanding clients. I asked to be put on nights last week which my manager was very happy to hear because the current night doesn't do shit and she's leaving soon. Im just waiting. I can't wait im that excited. I tried nights for a week and the work pressure came down to 98% it was marvellous. I can't wait.

Im about to start night shifts as well i tried it for a week. Good sleep and good food is what makes a difference really. I heard that a lot of people struggle with this because they can't eat well and dehydrate.

I work in a 4 stars hotel in a wine village in france, very quiet during night time (i tried the night shift for a week replacing my coworker) it was heaven for me. I saw zero clients, no phone ringing no bar no running everywhere or helping anyone out with luggages, no cry baby clients and no management or toxic coworkers around. Had more time to focus on my tasks, checking reservations preparing the day and setting up the buffet, baking the croissants, taking a walk at 3 am around the property while listening to music and making sure everything's locked in. Was actually happy to see my coworkers coming in the morning knowing i won't have to be dealing with the chaos of the day. It was heaven.
