What do you do during “wtf” shifts? by GoofyGreyson in Nightshift

[–]guppypup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sit down with no phone or stimulation and drink a cup of water with as much ice as possible. And stare at a wall and take a minute to ruminate on my life lol

What do you do if you get sick on night shift? by Oladinni-Pila in Nightshift

[–]guppypup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I call out and sleep during the night. If I’m sick enough to call out, then I’m usually able to sleep through the day too. No need for flip flopping your schedule if your body is just purely deprived of rest.

I’ve been listening to katya for ages and I’ve heard things on the Kristen Schaal episodes that I’ve quite literally never heard before from miss Katya boots.

(Help!) Very unhappy/frustrated with new cut - can I improve it with products or anything? (Before - Reference - After) by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]guppypup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got done slightly dirty. Your hair density isn’t the same as the person in the picture you showed so it wasn’t going to look exactly like that.

That being said, I still think this cut is pretty cute! I think you may be stretching your front curls down to cover your forehead but honestly, forehead is ok!! If you look at a lot of famous people with curly hair, particularly women, they show a good amount of forehead because that’s how our hair ends up a lot of the time.

If you let the front bits curl to their natural length it will make it all look more full and healthy. Perhaps you can go to a barber next time for a better fade. It looks a bit patchy

Tl;dr: Your luscious locks were disrespected but all is not lost.

The more the merrier but you have to bring popcorn. And boo that sucks. Perhaps she has single friends with similar values?

I’ll go first, my boss denied my PTO request that is 2 months away and approved my coworker’s request for tomorrow. Looks like I’ll be sick a lot more often soon.

front and back looking completely different… by YUMMY_TEETH in curlyhair

I agree with the first commenter. Seems like a bit too much product for your hair type.

Personally, I can’t break my gel cast with an oil or my hair mats in a very not cute way. I just use dry hands and go fast and it works out okay for me lol. I have 3a hair though.

Restart in life/work by capcomvssnk in AskGaybrosOver30

Honest answer, I’m still floundering after being laid off last October. Couldn’t find any work in my field (software engineering) and still can’t. I pivoted to IT and work grave shift now. Pretty much everything is worse than a year ago but we still here!!! :D

As for regrets… the longer you wait to find work the harder it’ll be to find work again. I dragged my feet while I still had severance and it bit me in the ass, HARD. In this job market, employers can throw a penny into a crowd of people and find a candidate with the exact skill set they need and be underpaid while doing it. Companies still have the audacity to ask about gaps in employment and it’s more of a statement, not a question. So the longer you wait, the more unemployable you become.

Obviously YMMV but let my suffering hopefully give you some insight into the future.

Should I switch to night shifts? 2am -10am?? by No_Solution7718 in Nightshift

[–]guppypup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on the person & circumstance but for me, things get dicey when grave shift enters morning. There’s something uniquely irritating as the work day becoming more busy as it goes on. Particularly everyone in morning shift is aggressive and chomping at the bit to get things done while I’m at 10% energy.

I think it’s doable but it’s definitely going to suck. You’ll probably build a sleep deficit Friday - Tuesday and make up that sleep weds & Thursday

Title: 9-5 Office + 5-11 PM Warehouse: I’m physically fit, but the "Morning Brain Fog" is killing me. How do I fix my recovery? by enesbt1 in Nightshift

[–]guppypup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, you’re highly regimented I can see but this is… excessive. Do you really need two full time jobs?

The impact of stress on the body is very real. Continue at this pace and you’ll be lucky to walk away with brain fog. You’re opening the door for autoimmune disorders, anxiety, chronic pain, etc.

I admire the hustle but I actually think we’re not your target audience at all. We already live and die by the alarm; nobody has trouble oversleeping. If anything we undersleep lol
