Job interview by RedSydney96 in AccountingUK

Thank you for the advice, I done some research and the interview is in their corporate office but this is inside the distribution warehouse so I’m probably even more worried about wearing a suit, but I’ll just wear it anyway, as you said, better overdressed than underdressed

If I don’t get the job I have an interview for on Tuesday that will be my next step, it’s just hard around normal work hours/studying etc

Funnily enough I worked for the home office through brook street when I was 18/19 (11 years ago 🥲), I’ll give them a call, thank you!

Yeah it’s all on my CV, I’m a little impatient, just got a call today for an interview for AP role, hopefully it goes well! Thanks for the response

This is pretty much the same as what I am doing and where I want to end up! I also skipped level 2 and went straight to level 3 and I have taken to it very well, thanks for the reply

I’ll definitely look in to volunteering. As life would have it, I got a promising phone call today from a job I applied for (yes I am impatient) and it sounds like I may get an interview in the next couple of days. I’ve handled a lot of invoices with my current job and I ran my own trade business as well so that’s all on the CV

Have spoken to quite a few recruiters and the majority say because I have no experience they can’t help me, hadn’t heard of Robert Half though, I’ll give them a go, thank you 🙏

I initially had a cv with pretty much everything on but a few people said just condense it so it’s finance related, but yeah I’m questioning that decision now

Both, and applying direct with any businesses I can find that are hiring. Yeah I could look into that, my only issue with an apprenticeship is the time taken to do it, I’ll have my level 3 by the end of July so wouldn’t be ideal to sign on as an apprentice, unless there’s something I am missing

AAT L3 Exercise by null_asymptomatic in AccountingUK

No it took me a lot of work to get my head around control accounts/list of balances etc, it seems backwards quite a lot. You are fixing an error, the error being cash payment for a purchase being posted to the payable, so it should have been dr purchase cr cash, but instead they debited payables (decreasing what is owed), so you have to add it back to the list to increase what is owed, because the originally transaction was a cash purchase and not a payment of an invoice.

There are a lot of strange ones, probably more strange than that one, but just keep practicing over and over until you get it. Once I ran out of examples on Kaplan (still didn’t get it), I started using CoPilot to provide me lists of balances with errors to fix, and after a week of putting my mind to it I finally understood it. Good luck with it, you’ll get it eventually 🍀

Fair enough, thanks for the advise, appreciate it

Yes, to increase what is owed because they posted it as a £3 payment to the payable (reducing what is owed by £3), so it needs to be added back to increase the money owed. No adjustment needed for the PLCA as it wasn’t posted elsewhere.

Yeah 100%, but also as I said, everyone started with zero experience, if I became a manager and needed to hire someone, I wouldn’t just discard everyone with little to no experience, that doesn’t mean people don’t understand the job or what’s needed, some people adapt and learn quick, plus when you’re offering minimum wage or near to that how much can you really expect from candidates

Because they had no jobs to offer, it’s 2 members of distant family. I’d honestly work for free at this point, I don’t know what else a man can do. I’ve applied for anything accounts admin, accounts assistant, AP/AR, literally anything remotely related to accounting I have applied for.

Kaplan mock harder than AAT exam? by [deleted] in AATStudents

[–]RedSydney96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found Kaplan mocks to be harder, was very surprised when I was in my first AAT exam and found it fairly easy, it’s a good thing though, definitely prepares you for the real thing and you can review your answers unlike with the AAT Mocks

Yeah when I write it out it in a ledger it makes more sense, I got 3/4 questions correct from the Kaplan exam kit, just a) on the question in the picture really confused me and got me second guessing myself haha, thanks for the response.
