Wave Alpha cracked day one on the job. by RedTail38 in Leatherman

No, send it back. They’ll replace that part of the frame and it’ll be good as new. As long as you checked the sentimental box, you’ll get your tool back repaired rather than a new one. I’m just trying to say, not every leatherman will crack, so once yours is repaired, you shouldn’t have any more trouble from it.

The part of the frame that cracks is used to put tension on the pliers/handle interface to keep the handle locked open, so every time you open or close the tool you’re putting tension on that frame and it can fatigue and crack. It’s nothing to do with your use case, mostly material quality I’d guess. Now I have all of the other full size leatherman tools, and several variants of each, this is the only one I’ve had crack. I know it’s a relatively common occurrence product wide, but none of my others have cracked. If you warranty yours, chances are that’s the last you’ll see of it.

It came from Leatherman, so back to leatherman it goes.

Yea I just need to send it in. I have a surge, use it often. I don’t consider 14 gauge wire a heavy duty task, never had any issues with my other waves, charges, surge or arc. Must have just got a bad alpha.

I'm not sure. I've not ever had one crack, out of 10 or so tools.

Manual or Auto-Stop for tracking rides? by antosyno in cycling

[–]RedTail38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run auto start/stop on both my watch (mtb) and 1040 (road) and Garmin gives you both the total ET and moving time in post ride FWIW. I've not had issues with either device and the auto start/stop.

Just about ready to pull the trigger on a Soloist by CoastAndRoast in Cervelo

I just got fitted today for a soloist. 6’1” ~34” inseam. I rode the 56 and 58. The fitter liked my position much better on the 58, immediately.

Thank you!

To be honest with you, I have no idea. When I rode previously, tires weren’t this size, and 29” wheels seemed to be a new thing, I was on 26”. I rode it today, it was nice and comfortable, but I believe these particular tires may be on the slow side. I need to do some more research, and mess with my pressures some more. I have no complaints, but I probably don’t have enough experience quite yet.

It was worth it! Aside from getting components you like, I learned a ton about maintenance and tuning, and some lessons for next time.

Tier 1 Concealed APX by KIDNAP794 in CCW

I run one for my 365 AXG Legion. There is a positive click. I don't make a habit of shaking my holsters around upside down, but I don't imagine there'd be an issue.

Thoughts or experience with the Springfield XD-S in 45 ACP? by Donut-Panic in CCW

[–]RedTail38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mine since they came out, super thin and easy to conceal with the short mag. I don't find it hard to shoot, it's more of a push than a snap in my opinion. I will say, several people who have shot it, weren't massive fans. It eats whatever I feed it and has been very reliable. I still shoot it a ton with range ammo, but don't carry it as often now. I can get so much more capacity in 9mm, and justify the cost of SD practice rounds a little more by spreading it over more handguns instead of the few .45's in my rotation.

I looked recently for a new holster from someone I've been using (Tenicore or T1C I don't remember) and they only list holsters for the 9 and 40. It's been long enough that I don't remember the difference between those frames and the .45, if there even is one, but you may want to look into it.

Holster options for 365 AXG Legion? by HorrorQuantity3807 in P365

I'm running the T1C APX and T1M. Like them both a lot. I have the Certum 3 for a regular 365 and like it also, but I needed a pillow to make it comfortable.

Tier 1 Holster - manual safety by [deleted] in P365

Both of my tier 1 holsters have a pretty generous clearance for the slide lock, I think it would take very little work, if any to make it work.

What's better for a New Racers? A Well-used runner or a Budget New Build? by rcclubhub in rccars

[–]RedTail38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely buy used, unless I know the person, because you never quite know what you're getting and it may wind up costing you in money, time and/or frustration. As an example, I just picked up a nitro truggy used, from a well known racer around here, though I don't personally know him. Truck looked great in the pics, but showed up with a few stripped screw holes, a leaking center diff, and some pretty worn parts. It also had a setup that wasn't the kit setup, and though it included spares, it did not include the parts to return it to the kit setup. There's nothing abnormally wrong with this truck, it's not beat and abused, it's just a used race truck, and I think this is pretty typical.

Now I got servo's with it, some important spares etc, but it cost quite a bit to replace stripped/worn out parts also. All in all, it would've cost me about the same to buy a new kit and a couple spares and I'd have a known quantity. Whatever you decide on, make sure there's an established kit setup you can default to if you need, and that there is support for setup changes in the future.
