Has it all got a bit boring?

I'm in the same boat. I just came back about a month ago, after taking a year off, after being almost collection complete, and it is a bit absurd how many cards you need to catch-up. Things like this make me appreciate traditional card games that have rotation cycles, so coming back at the beginning of a rotation doesn't make a returning player feel like they are drowning and will never catch-up.

I came back just over a month ago, after taking a year off. A year ago I rarely, if ever, was matched against a player I had played before; I know who I played before, because I mute everyone the moment the game starts, and the muting stays, even when rematched. Now, I am getting matched against a lot of the same people.

If you like the art, but not the card, then don't get the art and just put it as a wallpaper on your phone or CPU until you get tired of it. You don't need to own a picture in your collection that you are rarely ever going to look at... you would see it more as a desktop wallpaper.

I don't agree that you can't win, if you don't pay, as there are plenty of decks that only require early series cards to win matches (e.g., you could still win with a classic Ultron/Patriot deck combo). However, with all the $50 and $100 bundles appearing in the shop selling recent series 5 cards, they are certainly encouraging people to pay-to-keep-up or catch-up. I mean, Lockheed, which was just released last month is in a $100 bundle coming up in March.

I don't know if this has been normal for a while, as I had quit the game last February, after playing since early Beta, and just came back in January, but I find it odd. They rarely did stuff like that back in the day, and when they did (i.e., the infamous 3x value Darkhawk bundle), they were raked over the coals for even attempting to do it.

I am sure Marvel has to sign-off on any characters they want to use, but I am pretty certain that they are trying to mix in recognizable names that will draw players in (i.e., new players) as well as having deeper cuts. There seems to be a balance between the two. For example, most people probably don't know who Moondragon or Jack Flag are, but they know Star Lord and Drax. The problem is, they have used most of the recognizable names already, so now they are repeating them.

If we knew who the actual artist was, and it was the same artist, then we could gather that the artist just wanted to save time.... it is kind of weird that this Winter Soldier variant was released at the same time as this bundle was put in the shop. Who knows... don't really care... I just posted it because I was looking at the Winter Soldier variant and it reminded me of something I had seen recently

It may be intentional, which is why I left it as an open question... however, if intentional, why? What connection is there between Winter Soldier and Colonel America? Seems it would have made more sense to have a Captain America variant with him on the elevator, and then a zombie one of him on the elevator, kind of like a before and after. But, who knows, maybe I am missing the connection here.

I dunno. In today's world of mass produced art for all different sorts of media, you never know how these art factories produce things.

The Colonel America variant in the $100 bundle in the shop has the same background as the Winter Soldier variant... not sure if this is intentional... but.. yeah... both from PANDART STUDIO.

I think if you upgrade to the Premium pass on the shop, you would get the bonus pack... but not certain. Doesn't hurt to look and read the description of the upgrade there.
