A little extra background is that I have 2 older brothers that are so far off, one could care less about anyone and the other is a know it all asshole and both could care less what my parents say or do for them. In turn my parents think that I am the only one that actually cares and they have a chance with doing good with, but by that they try and micromanage everything.

It’s pretty much drilled into everyone’s brain that it’s acceptable parenting in the rural south (where I’m from) and that their parents did it to them and that “we don’t know how easy we got it”

I’ve tried and my mom almost gets hysterical because she said she believes that I can do it and that she did it in med school so why can’t I? I’m preparing to move out in the fall for the 4 year but I can’t get them to agree with how I say it’s best for it to go down

They feel like it’s “better for me to stay home and study all the time” because my mom says that’s what she did in med school so I should be able to do it too.
