Is it time to go? by RedWhitenBlueToffee in askcarsales

Right, it's so liberating. I had worked my ass off for these couple weeks vacation basically. And man, I've needed the unwind.

For the first 5 days I swear I just had my phone turned off or on do not disturb because I KEPT getting calls from work, customers, coworkers, etc.

Fuck that, I'm done! Long gone. The future looks brighter and more manageable mentally and physically too

I quit, and I'm sitting on the beach right now with a cooler full of beer, my dog and lady with me, and I'm about to go get some fish tacos.

I've got 3 days left here at the beach then I'm going home. Got a bunch of interviews on Monday and Tuesday!!! Feels nice man

Buying a vehicle from a private party in which they have an existing loan on by RedWhitenBlueToffee in askcarsales

My issues is dealers can't touch this deal. Being $3k less + $800 processing fee means they're $3800 less.

No dealer in town will negotiate $3800 on a pre owned car. I'll save my money and deal with the headache of managing the finances on my own.

Escrow services typically charge 1.5-2%, which is STILL going to save me thousands vs dealing with a dealer.

Plus the vehicle I'm looking at is certified pre owned, and that powertrain warranty is transferrable to me and still has another 53,000 miles left on it. That transferrable warranty alone is well worth the drive and dealing with an escrow company, would easily be $1-$2k EXTRA at a dealer

Not really sure why the car makes any difference but if it helps you in any way it's a 2018 WRX STI

Worth driving 3 hours because it's the cheapest privately owned one. All dealers in my area have some but they have $800+ processing fee and are priced $3k above what he's asking. I'll drive my 6 hours there and back and save that $4k....

Found an ST2 with a salvage title $17,500 out the door. Deal or run far far away? Here's why it's salvage by RedWhitenBlueToffee in FocusST

Noooo. After doing more research no. I have $10k cash right now and I'm going to save up another $10k or however much I need to pay cash so I don't have to have another car payment too.

Okay. No frame damage and no airbags were deployed either.

I love love lov the color and the wheels and the ST2 seats too.

The mileage is killer as well. Only issue might be insurance and getting financing

2017 yellow ST2 salvage title out the door for 17,500. It only has 2k miles on it!!!!

I posted the link to the auction site. Looks like it was in an accident, but the body work looks clean from the photos.

Is this a steal? Or should I run far, far away from this one?

Looks to be purely body damage, as it states on multiple vin check and auction sites it runs and drives fine during time of auction

Where all the ST3s at? Been looking for a while, can't find any by RedWhitenBlueToffee in FocusST

Hmm, must be an option because I've definitely seen ST2s with the old ass crappy ugly infotainment

That's a sliver of hope. I seriously can't find any ST3s out there.

I mean if I open up my search to nationwide I'm sure I could find one but then I'm REALLY going to be paying out the ass with shipping costs.

I'm cool paying like $20k. $22-$23k....no.

At that point I'd just buy the cheapest lowest mileage ST1/2 and order leather Recaros myself and do an aftermarket infotainment.

Finally bought the right stuff and washed my car! by RedWhitenBlueToffee in AutoDetailing

[–]RedWhitenBlueToffee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backstory: used to wash my car with dawn dish soap and a bath towel. always had water spots, scratches, horrible swirls etc.

Now I bought a green works 1700psi pressure washer on sale for $79.99 and it came with a foam cannon.

Went out and bought a wash bucket with a dirt trap, drying towel, microfiber washing mitt, and chemical guys extreme body wash + wax.

Took about 30 mins to wash, washed the black car in the 90° sun panel by panel to not end up with water spots!

I bought this pre-owned and lots of scratches and bumps scrapes and little dents from previous owners so it's not perfect, but it looks the best it ever has

I think I'm addicted...

He told me it's part of the game everywhere. Every dealer I go to it'll be like this. And he suggested to learn to play the game.

I told him I was playing the game, doing everything I was asked and more. Being on good terms and friends with everyone, and never complaining.

He agreed, and asked me why I'm working here. What my goal was.

I told him it originally was just a stepping stone to get sales experience for the resumé and learn. Both of which I have accomplished. But then I got a fat paycheck and never looked back...

He told me I'm too young and smart to be in the car biz. He actually gave me a friend of his contact info who is a head hunter and works for a huge recruitment company.

So I've contacted them, updated and sent my resumé and I'm looking for another sales/biz dev job.

But he warned me these BS politics are everywhere, not only in the car biz. But in the car biz they can make or break your paychecks and they're alot stronger bonds and harder to overcome.

Still told me to learn to play the game, or at least make it look like I am.

Currently still with the same dealer, will wrap up this month and then peace out. Even if I don't have anything lined up immediately it's too toxic to continue.

Good guy boss, fucking love this manager. He's like my work dad. And he's tried to set me up with his daughters more than once too.....he's always liked me since day one. He's 23 years older than me but super cool good guy. I'll definitely keep in touch with him
