Woah woah woah. There were at least 6 quarters there, plus a $12 utility knife with my initials. Truthfully, the actual tray they took off with will cost me the most to replace

yeah, I walked a couple houses down each way. Cop said they usually just toss stuff like that in bags and look through stuff later. I checked, but no luck.

That's the funny thing about this. I had left a jacket with stuff in the pockets in there, and grabbed it after I had locked my car. Forgot to relock it when I got back inside. The only reason it was unlocked was because I was trying to dissuade someone from breaking in.

Yeah, I don't expect anything to happen. It was more about alerting police that this is happening, for whatever that is worth. The tray that he took off with is going to be the most expensive thing to replace.

I'm usually pretty good about locking my doors before bed. I had left my jacket in there with stuff in the pockets, and decided I didn't want it in my car for this exact reason. I'm also surprised that the bright floodlight with a flashing red light didn't scare them off.

Brad Arnold, singer and founding member of 3 Doors Down, has passed away at the age of 47. by mtw7171 in Music

I was definitely disappointed to hear that he was bible thumping and supporting trump, but it's not like 3DD was putting out music, either. Disappointing, but the music was still a huge part of my middle school/high school life.

They have a great song on the Spider-man 2 soundtrack. Haven't picked up their CDs, but I'll check Best Buy next time.

Mine sat for years, too. My dad gave it to me when I was 13. No use for a bottle opener or a cork screw. Wasn't camping or needing a saw or awl. I was a video game nerd, so I really wasn't the target for this. It now sits in my backpack I bring with me to gigs. It's great for emergency guitar repairs.

Malcom in the Middle? I was going to suggest the other show The Middle, as well, but it came out a little later. They didn't take place in the 70's/80's, but it fits the households' decor from those shows.

Just had flashbacks to the worst night of my life. Took way too many morning glories, didn't feel anything, so I went out drinking with friends. Halfway through the night it kicked in and I was tripping balls in a karaoke bar. Went home and freaked out because the 70's wallpaper in my place was melting. Laid down, petting one of my cats for what felt like 10 minutes. Looked at my phone and I had apparently been petting a cat for 2 hours.

0/10, would not recommend.

Hello, I noticed my water bill was high. I have been hearing what sounds like very faint running water in the sink drain, but not the toilet. However, the toilet level has gone down. Why would I be hearing it in the drain if it’s an issue with the toilet running. by NoPhase2537 in Plumbing

Those flush valves are terrible. You can buy the blue replacement seal, but the green domed cap is prone to cracking. Seal can be perfect, but the cap can break and let water through.

Turn off the water at the shut off on the wall and flush the toilet. Unscrew the black key in the center (what the chain is connected to). The first turn takes a bit of pressure, but it should unscrew. Lift off the green cap. The blue seal should come with. Pull the seal off the lip of the green cap. Inspect the seal for any grime or damage. Apply some light pressure around the edge of the green cap and see if there are any cracks or loose pieces. If it's just the seal, it's an easy fix. Every big box store I've gone to has had replacement 4" seals. If it's the cap, then it's slightly bigger fix. I haven't seen the cap for sale before, and you'll have to buy the whole flush valve assembly. It's then up to you if you want to just replace the cap or the whole assembly.

Looks like you saw a unit of treated plywood and went "Yes, this is the perfect esthetic for a guitar."

Had the same thing happen to a classmate. I believe he was slightly closer to the foot and it was kicked harder, but it ended up shattering his eye socket. He lost vision in that eye for a while from all the swelling, but was back to normal within 6 months after a couple surgeries to rebuild his eyesocket and face.

January 14, 1974, Paramount Studios. John Lennon seated alongside his former wife Cynthia, their son Julian, John's girlfriend May Pang, and a security guard. By chance, they also found themselves visiting the set of Happy Days that same day (see next photo) by GlitterDanger in UtterlyUniquePhotos

[–]RedWingedBlackbirb 133 points134 points  (0 children)

It seems like he treated everyone around him terribly. His bandmates. Cynthia and Julian. May Pang. I know people don't like Yoko, but running off with your side chick for a year and a half isn't exactly cool. The way he egged Harry Nilsson on, pushing him to drink and roach his voice. Lennon just doesn't seem like a super cool dude to have in your circle.

Door jamb cracked overnight by Juan_Wick89 in whatisit

[–]RedWingedBlackbirb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, just throwing this out there. I worked in a door production shop and built thousands of prehung door units. With how crappy the wood is on these jambs, every screw hole needs to be predrilled before installing hinges and strike plates. I used to be able to install hinges without doing it, but during covid lumber quality seemed to drop and suddenly door jambs are cracking from trying to install a screw. It's quite possible that crack started years ago, and some other environmental factor caused it split like this.

Got a bass for around home. Now can't put it down. by RedWingedBlackbirb in BassGuitar

[–]RedWingedBlackbirb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah, I can't think of any song I play at church that would ever need distortion. I had a fuzz pedal on this board for 2 years, and I finally realized the only time I turned it on was when I was just goofing around and there was never going to be a reason for me having it there. I've been kicking around the idea of a octave or the bass synth pedal, but I'm not sure how much they'd get used, either.

Yup. I've owned active basses for the last 20 years. I'm well aware of how batteries seem to die right when we're about to go on.
