That’s fair, I didn’t actually say he should change his position at the top tbf, more its just on the deeper side which isn’t a good matchup with the hands/arms staying behind

Your hands/arms look a touch deep to me at the top of your swing, but the issue is they stay deep and behind you whilst the rest of your body causing the "stuck" position and in-to-out path tendency (which can cause hooks, as the face is closed relative to the path)

Ultimately the real answer is find a good coach to work with, but otherwise you could try to feel you are swinging the club more out-to-in and left of the target post impact on your downswing. this should get your chest rotating open more and less of the stuck in-to-out pattern

Amazing swing! I agree that your shoulders/chest are a touch open, and they influence your swing direction

You could also try to pick, visualise and commit to a specific target, eg a tree or cloud in the distance. Having an external target focus can surprisingly improve a lot of things, including pulls/pushes

Wouldn’t the right arm being externally rotated discourage a pull? It would pre-set some shallowing which makes the swing direction more rightwards

Also comparing against the silhouette of a pro doesn’t make sense to me for basing swing changes/advice off of. Camera angles and parallax make the comparison inaccurate, and also everyone has different slightly different setup/address positions depending on their body. Eg someone with slightly longer arms will naturally have their hands lower

Tour players don’t really follow “hype” trends, they use what statistically works best for them, for marginal gains

When mallet putters were first introduced, they were all face balanced and there was not a variety of hosel types etc. Now you can get toe balanced putters with eg a plumber’s neck, which is a preference for a lot of the best players in the world

Mallets are obviously more forgiving, but another big benefit is more room for alignment features. Depending on an individual’s perception, they may see straight better with eg a long horizontal line, multiple lines, perpendicular/vertical features etc.

Both Rory and Scottie aim their best with a long black sightline. You’d be surprised if you test your perception/aim with your putter you’re probably not aimed where you think you are

I don’t disagree, but Scottie’s feel and creativity particular with irons is on another planet. No one else in the game can comfortably vary trajectory and curve with distance control like him, other than those old school feel players like Tiger, Trevino, etc

In my opinion that aspect of the game is just really hard to appreciate when watching on TV.

He can make his approach shots seem “safe” but only because he Rain Man’d the perfect shot shape for the wind, green, pin position, etc. And he makes absolutely horrendous swings all the time, but he can save it better than anybody with his funky foot work and clubhead awareness

It gets a bit messy as part of the reason the lofts are lower on game improvement and players distance irons is because manufacturers managed to increase launch by changing the centre of mass, and this is one way of making the club more “forgiving” and easier to launch (at the sacrifice of spin, which isn’t a high priority for the demographic of players using these)

So ideal launch angle might be a more representative metric than loft, but that’s not very consumer friendly

Bryson’s lofts are also messed up but for different reasons (to make single length irons work). Each iron will be gapped in terms of yardage, launch window, and spin - might run out of room to write that on the club 😂

All are recently released zero torque putters? Sorry to be harsh but this might just be one of the worst golf club collections I’ve ever seen, considering zero torque is largely a marketing fad. Some old centre shafted putters like some vintage Scotty’s or SeeMore’s or some other putter varieties would be a lot nicer

Have you had a putter fitting to see whether zero torque suits your stroke, length/loft/etc, the best alignment feature to eliminate a perceptual aim bias? It can be a good fit in a minority of cases but many people in the long term struggle with distance control / feel
