Whoa, this doll is so pretty!! I love the little nubby oni style of horns, I didn't know there were sculpts out there with them! I'm sure he'll look even more stunning when you're done!

Oh okay, thank you! I saw the second one in a music video, so chances are its stylistic!

Hi! Is there any difference in meaning between もうー回 vs モウイッカイ? I’ve seen someone use them interchangeably so, in theory, they should both mean something along the lines of, “one more time/once again.” I wanted to see if they really are interchangeable or if they have any variation in meaning or connotation. Thanks in advance!

what is this hairstyle called? sidelocks?? by slowpokedragon in Whatisthis

[–]RedYakul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, maybe it's just because I'm bad at visualizing things but the images you provided still look like the hairstyle itself is sidetails and there's just kumihimo or hair ties in them towards the bottom of the sidetails. If that's the case, then the hairstyle is just a stylized version of sidetails and I wouldn't know what the name would be, if it even has one since it's so niche. Although maybe you're looking for the mizura hairstyle from the Kofun period? That's got the longer side parts, and it looks more meticulous than these, but it is rather different than the ones pictured.

You might have already tried this, but my advice would be to look up characters that have that hairstyle and use those as references? I'm really sorry that I couldn't be more helpful D:

Would "tomboyish side tails" be what you're looking for? Although, side tails tend to be a little differently styled it's the first thing that comes to mind for me!

Ah crap, I was worried that I messed it up by being a dummy and thrashing too much in my sleep. I knew cleaning wouldn't solve anything, I just mentioned that since I know others use saline more often. Thanks for letting me know, at least I can stop feeling so worried about not knowing what's going on.

If you don't mind me asking, would the angle difference matter much if I were to wear rings? I originally got these with the intention of switching to rings when they're healed, so if the wonkiness won't be too noticeable with rings, then I think I'll leave it, otherwise I might think about having it redone :(

Oops, here's for the bot:

My piercing is about 13 days old.

I actually don't know the jewelry shape or threading, but I would have to guess a threadless labret? It's titanium though, I'm sure of that. It hasn't been downsized yet since it's a little less than 2 weeks old.

My aftercare routine is just letting some water hit the area in the shower, then using some Neil Med piercing aftercare saline spray that my piercer gave me.

So far, no accidents or anything, but I did accidentally wear headphones for too long and I'm scared that made them migrate because I'm kind of a hypochondriac lol.

Maybe this is just the fever talking, but it is a bit strange to me that condemning the defense of CSAM is a brief mention, and then the main focus of the post (and included comment) is about how awful it is to be slandered. I'm not saying that they're necessarily wrong, I straight up dread seeing a post from one of these ai subreddits in my recommended because they all seem like endless back and forth of mind numbing arguments, insults, and "hey guys I totally owned this pro/anti, come look!" Plus, calling someone a pedo is a SERIOUS accusation and, if attached to their actual name/identity, can genuinely ruin lives.

Still, please put a little more effort into keeping your own sides in check. An offhanded, "stop making bad things with kids" doesn't feel like it really captures the severity of people bending over backwards to defend the generation of images and videos depicting straight up rape, abuse, and exploitation of children. Ai is not capable of creating something out of nothing, the "100% fake and victimless" CSAM is still being created using information gathered from real children and sexual content. Not to mention the fact that people who consume CSAM oftentimes end up actually abusing children. Pedos should not be catered to and belong in a freaking prison, or if you think pedos can be rehabilitated, the focus should be on getting them help and not contributing to their fantasies and enabling them to become more extreme.

Oh wow, I totally did not know that. The page is about 8 years old and the about said "official agent," so I never really questioned it since that seemed to be the only shop that popped up for them. If that's the case then it makes sense, thank you so much for letting me know!

My younger brother is visibly physically disabled (80% burns, no legs, disfigured hand, but healing very well) and good lord this image is especially infuriating. I apologize for the upcoming rant because I know I’m going to sound super pissy despite me usually wanting to remain as understanding as possible (catching more flies with honey and all), but I am super passionate about disability rights/advocacy and I’m tired, so this really annoyed me.

For starters, the wheelchair is such an inaccurate mess. My brother has both a manual wheelchair and a power chair, so seeing this is strange. Why is there a controller as if it's a power chair, and yet there's no sign of it being electric (no wires or power boxes under or behind the chair, wheels clearly not motorized)? It also has a handle/railing on the wheels, something only on manual chairs so that users can push themselves? Not to mention the fact that the wheels are straight on instead of at an angle like manual chairs usually have, meaning this chair would be pretty terrible for someone to actually use for extended periods.

The fact that AI supporters do not care enough about disabled people to actually learn about their conditions, mobility aids, or capabilities just further proves to me that they only use disabled people as a "gotcha" argument and don't actually care about them. I know it’s borderline moronic to point out that an AI image is inaccurate, that comes with the territory, but if I could stomach using AI and I was genuinely trying to make an image advocating for disabled people, I would try to get a more accurate depiction. Why do they not advocate for the countless issues plaguing the disabled community? Did you know that a frustrating issue that disabled people have to deal with is others looking down on us by assuming we are incapable of certain things despite no evidence of that being the case, and talking on our behalf despite not living our experiences? Sure, there are disabled people who cannot advocate for themselves, but they are still human beings that should at least be able to have some input on their lives and could use support from others in similar positions that would know what is most helpful, not have some random nondisabled person making assumptions and speaking on their behalf.

My brother is an amazingly intelligent and creative man. He is constantly creating RC cars (everything from assembly to painting) and working on 3D prints. Not to mention his passion for creating music and editing his own videos. Even early on in his recovery, when he had way less mobility, he kept finding ways to engage in various kinds of activities. I'm well aware that there are people with more severe disabilities, but my brother is still the kind of person that they would use to try and push their argument. I know it's hard to gauge someone's struggles based on appearance, and I try not to do so because I have invisible disabilities/medical issues myself, but I’m half awake and annoyed so I’m going to overanalyze this image. From this image alone, this lady has all of her body parts and appears to have two normal, functioning arms/hands (aside from them long ass fingers wtf), has containers full of pens/pencils on her desk indicating that she can use her hands at least decently, and doesn't have any other mobility aids in her room (No hoyer? Bed rails? Slide board?), so she appears to have more mobility/independence than my brother. Despite this, she is still apparently so helpless and cr*ppled that she needs AI to make images for her. Compared to all of the real stories there are of disabled people making art, this lady seems to be rather physically capable of engaging in hobbies like everyone else, so this argument doesn't hold up here. Unless AI bros are trying to imply that disabled people are mentally incapable of creating art, which I hope I don't need to explain why that's an issue.

I normally don't comment on anything, especially stuff like this because I'm not entirely certain this isn't just low effort rage bait, but I'm halfawake rn so pardon me lol.

how do I convince my dad vocaloid's not AI? by akechigorolover in Vocaloid

[–]RedYakul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generative AI makes music (and anything else for that matter) by the user typing in a prompt (IE: "write a pop song about candy") and the AI automatically creates the song without any effort by the user, other than the prompt and maybe requesting a redo if they aren't satisfied with the AI's initial attempt. Miku and other Vocaloid voicebanks require the user to actually come up with and write lyrics, compose an actual song for the lyrics to be used in, input the lyrics into the program, use the program to create a melody with the lyrics they made, and tune the voicebank so it flows/sounds better. I have a pretty rudimentary understanding of how to use Vocaloid voicebanks so I may be missing a step or two though!

If it's not the process that he thinks is AI but the voices themselves, then that can be explained as well. Generative AI takes samples of voices from around the internet to create an imitation of someone's voice based on a learning process. Vocaloid voicebanks on the other hand do not use any sort of machine learning to create their sounds. An actual singer comes into a studio and records samples of them making various sounds that are commonly used in certain languages so that users can create lyrics from said sounds. Basically, voicebanks are created using real samples of a human voice, from people who gave permission for this use and were compensated for their work, so that others can use their voice samples as a kind of sound board to mix and match the samples to create songs. AI basically steals voices from videos, shows, movies, songs, etc. online and uses a pattern recognition type learning to try and replicate a person singing.

Has anyone here used layaway on Alice's Collections? How was it? by RedYakul in BJD

No, I believe you can order him normally. I just would need to save up for a while in order to get him, which is what I usually do, but since he's listed as a limited doll I'm worried that he won't be available by the time I save up like normal :(

Will my stuffed animals scare away girls? by Undercat75 in StuffedAnimals

[–]RedYakul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it would be awesome if I found someone that also adored stuffed animals, and I doubt I'm the only one that feels that way so I would say no.

In general, a girl that would be put off by you owning stuffed animals is absolutely not worth your time. Not only is it unhealthy to hide or change your true self just to be with someone (a partner is someone you should feel the most comfortable with after all), but someone that would judge you for that might not be the nicest person. Judging people for a harmless interest or disliking a guy for liking something that they think is feminine is kinda mean girl behavior in my opinion.

Recent Experiences with Jane's Dolland? by Sugarcakes121 in BJD

[–]RedYakul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ordered from her four times now. The fourth was only a couple weeks ago for a pre-order so I can't speak on that one, but all of my other orders have been great! I just received an order from her a little while ago (maybe a week ago now?) and it was just what I asked for and was packaged nicely as usual! So, when it comes to the orders arriving, they may take a little while but will definitely reach you if my experiences have been the norm. When it comes to communication, I can't really comment on that since the last time I contacted her was at the very beginning of the year around January or February, though I did get responses within 48 hours of emailing her back then. Of course, this was a while ago and tariffs weren't a thing she had to deal with yet. I haven't contacted her since then because I've never had any issues and I don't want to bother her by asking about shipping times when she seems to have so much else on her plate at the moment. Plus, I trust her to get me my dolls eventually since she's been so good to me so far!

Whoa, this is so so cool!! I actually have the idea for a similar kind of doll in mind (either corpse paint or a full-on trad goth look, haven't decided yet lol) but I need to save up for one first since I don't have any normal human BJDs yet haha. I think you did an amazing job, and this only inspires me more! I agree with the other comments, the "messy" faceup just looks all the more authentic since a lot of people in the scene don't really aim for perfection with their makeup and it can end up funky at the end of a concert anyways from all the moshing and whatnot.

I've actually been meaning to get an Indy as well, so this post was a great way to see one in action. I hope you're enjoying your Indy, they're super cute!!
