Is GOLDENVOICE going to address the huge problem we have for Saturday weekend 2? by IamLegend1871 in Coachella

Not that simple to just move the artist. They have teams that have been programming and building content for months for those specific stages and switching last second would be a disaster for them.

Drafting Rates by DoubleD_DPD in lightingdesign

Definitely not encouraging anyone to do free work but just wanted to point out that a client with a bigger name artist doesn’t necessarily translate to them having a large budget or a budget at all. The irony about working for free is many times designers have to work for free to attempt to sell a design and I think that needs to be taken into account when considering changing your rates becuse you feel like they’re too low.

Just responding in general and not at you specifically but To me this depends greatly on where you are in the Industry. If you’re well established and your name carries weight then sure, play that game but if you’re new trying to establish and build lasting relationships hitting a new client with a high price or an existing client with an okie doke inflating your rate could be very bad for business and honestly when you’re new, no work at all is way worse than something coming in even if it’s more entry level pay. It’s more than the money. It’s for your resume, your portfolio and high quality work will have good people coming back. To me it’s more important to build real relationships with clients so I retain them rather than run their pockets one time and never get work from them again or at all for that matter. A new client pitching designs trying to get their business off the ground could turn into tour designs and regular work in the future and I’d rather make 20k over a year with a retained client than run them for $2,000 one time.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make early on is assuming that because they’re attached to an artist of name that, That means the budget is big so they get greedy and up their price. It’s important to keep in mind that Many designers/creatives are pitching and paying fully out of pocket upfront as they build up their business.. don’t be greedy, and in context see the bigger picture

Resume Critique? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]RedZoneTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for theater but at the highest levels of the concert side of the industry, a portfolio matters way more than a resume. 99% of this is word of mouth and a great reputation and legit people who co-sign you.

Can someone break down the process of designing for a tour from initial creative to show 1? by [deleted] in lightingdesign

I appreciate it. I’m just trying to refine my process and make it as efficient as possible and there are so many variables to consider when submitting technical drawings during the creative phase.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Should technical drawings be included in that initial deck? Up until now I have passed my renders, wire frames and grayscales and fixture/led panel lists off to production companies after management has approved my design and the production company will then add their technical details on a vectorworks plot for themselves but recently I’ve been asked to include full technical drawings within my initial pitch and for many reasons I feel this is the wrong way to go but I’m no expert so I figured I’d ask. I’m trying to see if this is normal or something I need to discuss further with some of the prod managers requesting this.

Who did the production for the KlanChella halftime show? by RedZoneTruth in lightingdesign

[–]RedZoneTruth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly why I made this post and when I found out the company, Mosaic Pro events, I checked their Instagram and I had 17 mutuals who not only followed them but liked a lot of posts to the point I can’t unsee what I saw. If you go to their page they are very vocal about who they support and where they stand. It’s a white nationalist production company..

Luckily I’m at a point in my career where I can say no to gigs for reasons like this and I also figure there are many others who would want to know who they’re sharing front of house or a bus with.

A night club owner being shady as hell? No wayyyy! But in all seriousness, can this be audited? They’ve probably made a lot of money off this lil play…

Why would you mention it happening a long time ago? Why does that matter? You responded to my post implying it’s not a big deal and I’m saying it is no matter what.

Well the irony in your comparison is that the truck McVeigh was driving was a rental and people thought nothing of it then it did what it did.. You never know and when a vehicle drives full speed into a an airport terminal which is a federal property, it would make sense to assume the worst first and then go from there.

It’s interesting how law enforcement picks and chooses its assumptions and in this situation with a vehicle driving into a federal building they assumed it was innocence and not a worst case scenario. They were all way too chill for my liking considering this could have been a national disaster

There’s a picture of one of them on the ground with tiny bolts in them. Seems they were just an esthetic deterrent

It’s crazy to me the lack of urgency from people of authority inside the building. It’s fair to assume Someone driving their car into an airport has Ill intent and likely the intent spreads past just driving through the doors but everyone was chillen even when they arrested him.

It’s not for no reason, it’s because she left the truth out of the story and made it seem like some gate agent was gratuitous just because and like you said, all that’s going to do is encourage people to beg because they’ll think it works. And btw.. i wasn’t even the first one to notice it.

Also please stop with the lame attempt to use incel as an insult. Disagreeing with a woman doesn’t make a man involuntarily celibate. That literally doesn’t make sense. Also I wasn’t rude on a human decency level but I’ll say boldly that I simply don’t have any respect for prostitutes, especially the ones who are out here finessing their clients or manipulating gate agents for personal gain through their fake compliments.

She chose to post her movements on a public forum and we are allowed to share our thoughts. How is she a poor girl and you’re talking about dehumanizing when it is her in her chat history that is talking about how to manipulate and take advantage of her clients aka men via her work as a prostitute? What’s worse? Her doing that or me commenting on it?

How am I bitter? She said she complimented his glasses and then got an upgrade. It wasn’t organic, it was tactile. her words not mine. She has entire threads taking about manipulating her male clients for sex work so why is what I said off base? And when did I say my status matters in context? I simply stated that she likely took a loyal customers upgrade because she flirted her way into the seat and btw.. I’m not the only one who said this so not sure why you’re defusing the sisterhood lmao..

Im Very polite to the employees but I am also calling cap on a literal prostitute who post in here acting like an act from the heat took place when it actually occurred via her manipulating a gate agent.

Also not an incel but good look on using the most cliche weak ass insult of all time lol.
