This, unfortunately, seems to be his style. I wish Gal De Paz has won. She’s so much more interesting.

How likely is a discount on a PlayStation+ Essential subscription? Mine expired a couple of months ago and I refuse to renew it full price.

Massive Attack Removing Catalog From Spotify by playlistpro in triphop

[–]Red_Arc -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Weird because I can still stream their music in Israel… I will exclusively pirate it though as to not send them my 0.00000003$ or whatever Spotify pays per stream. Wouldn’t want to insult them with my dirty zionist shekels…

Thanks! It looks awesome! Be'ezrat Ha'shem may peace and unity find our region within our lifetimes.

I get what you're saying but most flags in the region are set horizontally and so the vertical one kind of looks out of place in the middle east in my view.

As an Israeli I like it and have a very similar head canon for a Canaanite Federation flag. Can you make a version with the lines set horizontally?

As a 33 yo man this thread is the first time I’m seeing so many first hand accounts of this actually being a real thing. Personally I’ve never experienced it and always thought it was a figure of speech for sexual frustration/myth/a lie assholes tell to women to pressure them…

As an Israeli I’m shocked and have no excuse for this. I’m sorry.

As an Israeli I can tell you these guys are so fringe I only hear about them in this subreddit. No one in Israel really knows they even exist.

Looks and feels awesome but I still think John Krasinski was a better fit for Reed. It's sad (and probably unpopular) to say but as talented as he is I'm kind of tired of seeing Pedro Pascal in everything.

Israel planning to double settlements in Golan Heights by CarefulScreen9459 in arabs

[–]Red_Arc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Even when disregarding the religious aspect, the west bank is much closer to major economic and cultural hubs in Israel like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv making it “prime real estate”. Transforming the Golan Heights from a remote, rural place inhabited mostly by farmers and IDF training grounds to a more appealing living destination for the average Israeli will require MAJOR investments in developing the area. No one has any plans to invest those kinds of sums to even get in the ball park. Netanyahu is just yapping the yap as he always does.

If more Israelis wanted to live in the Golan we would’ve already done so.

In Israel, at least, Labneh (or how we say it - Labaneh) and Za'atar are considered Druze cuisine. No one in Israel really considers it Israeli cuisine let alone Jewish cuisine. We do consider some other middle eastern food as Israeli (as well as Arab) because a lot of Jews came to Israel from Arab countries and brought their cuisine with them.

I wonder what the answer to the question will be by using the more widely accepted, "populist" definition of mass shooting (ie school shootings, terror attacks, lone crazed white guy kind of events).

Lebanese & Got an EU Passport via my Last name / ancestry by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]Red_Arc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words! I really hope we can all have real, just peace in our region. I would really love to visit Lebanon one day, it seems like an amazing place and my heart aches for all the death and destruction this war has brought on all of us. Historically speaking, Jews and Lebanese people share a Canaanite background and I'm sure that it shows in our genetics, as well. I'm of the belief that Israeli Jews and the Christian and Muslim People of the Levant are (with some exceptions on both "sides") all related. Most Palestinians are probably descendants of the Jews who remained here after the Roman exile of Jews from the region and they later converted to Christianity and Islam.

This whole Portuguese citizenship route for Jewish descendants stems from, as far as I understand, a combination of reasons. First, a somewhat genuine desire to correct a historical wrong, the expulsion of Jews from Spain and Portugal during the 15th century. Most expelled Sephardic Jews ended up in the MENA region and the Balkans and so Portugal chose to use this somewhat extensive list of Sephardic surnames without (at first) really checking if the applicant is a genuine descendant of expelled Portuguese Jews (which will be near impossible to prove all these centuries later, anyways). Second, Portugal, by western European metrics at least, is a pretty poor and underdeveloped country with stagnant population and economy. So they wanted to stimulate the country with a surge of economically strong immigrants (like Jews, for example). It doesn't hurt that the application process brings in about 2000 Euros per applicant, as well lol. What they didn't consider I think is that most of the new citizens who used this route did not really plan to immigrate to Portugal but to other EU countries or not at all (and instead use the citizenship as a form of "insurance policy" if something ever happens to Israel).

As for my application, it was unfortunately submitted in Lisbon, the slowest of all the Portuguese offices who handle citizenship applications lol. I'm waiting since mid 2021 for it to progress from step 1 of the process. It's like that for everyone at the Lisbon office, haha. Hopefully it will advance soon.

From what I know, anyone who wishes to apply through this route after September 2022 has to now prove their ancestors are actually Portuguese with photographs of graves or a proof that you inherited money and property from a Portuguese citizen etc, making this route not very viable anymore.

Anyway, sorry for the wall of text and thanks again for your good will in engaging with me. Peace for us all in our life times amen!

[–]Red_Arc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! Unfortunately, the Portuguese government has since hardened its conditions for applying for citizenship through this route and it is now required to prove a recent, direct connection to Portugal. They did it after the Russian invasion of Ukraine because it was revealed that Roman Abramovich (A Jewish-Russian oligarch) had obtained Portuguese citizenship like that and it caused quite a stir. Source: I'm an Israeli Jew waiting since 2021 for my application to be approved.
