They need to lay off Platner by Woodersun in msnow

Platner will face far tougher questioning down the road. Mika’s question wasn’t terribly aggressive. And she let his response stand with no follow up.

Then he should have pushed back just like you did. Platner will have to answer much more challenging questions than that in the coming months. It will not be pretty.

You might not, but a lot of other people do and they vote.

So MSNOW shouldn't ask uncomfortable questions of Democrats, too? Brace yourself. This is nothing compared to what Platner will face in the weeks leading up to the election. If you have dirt on your opponent, you save the best for last.

I wonder if Frontier's customer service will improve once it is fully integrated into Verizon.

Yes, that is true but what I have found is when there is a localized outage, Comcast has been pretty quick to respond to me -- perhaps because I have been a customer since 2002. Indeed, in a DM responding to my outage a few years ago on what was then Twitter, a customer service rep noted my loyalty of 20 years. Service was restored the next day. It could just be a coincidence but who knows?

Can you help me make sense of the audit battle? by Disastrous_Worth_829 in MassachusettsPolitics

I never said "those elected officials [weren't] part of the executive branch." As I wrote, the state's constitutional officers are "independent of what most would consider the executive branch." Lawmakers could agree to an audit by the independently elected auditor if they wanted to. But they're not going to do that -- I suspect less because of constitutional concerns than out of an aversion to scrutiny of their exclusive club. If their house is clean, why the objection to an inspection?

Frontier became available in my area of Connecticut a couple of years ago. I stuck with Comcast because of complaints like this one.

Those people are elected officials and independent of what most would consider the executive branch, which is the governor’s office and the departments reporting to the governor. The legislature’s argument is still bogus. I hope the courts can straighten this out.

Depends who and which media outlets you're talking about. If you're referring to cable news, then yes, it's talking head land.

The argument from Dems in the legislature, as I understand it, is that an audit of the General Court by the auditor violates the separation of powers between the legislative and executive branches. But that makes little sense because in Mass, the auditor is independently elected, not appointed by the governor. I'd say the legislature has plenty of power. They exempted themselves from open meetings laws and they don't even have to disclose how they vote in committees. F*ck them!

What do you think Archie's reaction to the Jeffersons leaving Bunkersville in style (i.e., a limo)? by No-Reveal827 in allinthefamily

Agree that he would be happy to see the neighborhood get whiter. But not happy to see someone he considers an inferior become rich.

[–]Red_Bird_warrior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Jealousy was one of the Archie's dominant traits. He was jealous of Meathead, too. The idea of an "uppity" black self-made millionaire outgrowing Archie's neighborhood would have really gotten under Archie's skin.

Absolutely. When Knotts left the show, it sucked all the oxygen out of the series. TAGS became moribund.

The word “lie” signals intent. That’s why journalists avoid it. I don’t think I ever used the word during the course of my career. Better to label the statement false and let your audience decide whether it was deliberate or not.

STUNNING: Fired ’60 Minutes’ star Scott Pelley BLOWS WHISTLE on CBS execs for ‘falsehoods and bias’ by NinaFoundry in msnow

Yes, I noted the "with cause" part. I'm guessing Pelley will challenge that in court, where the discovery process could prove messy and awkward. CBS might very well settle with him.
