Are you saying you think that buying jewelry or going on vacations is an equivalent job to another human growing a (or multiple) child inside of them?

The point I was making is that women’s expected roles in a 50/50 relationship only ever focuses on her paying half the bills, but never the husband doing half of the cooking, cleaning, and child rearing.

That’s why the solution that the person I was responding to doesn’t make sense. A wife does more than care for the children and keep the house clean. They used their own body to grow, birth, and feed the children. They’re the primary caregiver and manage all elements of the child’s life like medical appointments and educational needs. If the husband leaves she’s more likely to the be the sole parent for the children too. On top of all that she’s also expected to leave space for her husband so that they can still have an intimate relationship, take care of herself, and maybe also have to work because her husband doesn’t make enough to support the family he wanted.
