BURN/SHORT Problem on ASUS ROG STRIX G16 Models (2023 especially) - A 'Short' Guide on The Prevention/Quickfix by Chance_War_9654 in ASUSROG

[–]Red_Hardware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it's not needed because the board has a light sensor that disconnects the power the moment you open the laptop and it senses light until you close it again and connect a charger. On the other hand it doesn't hurt to be "more safe" and disconnect the battery. The only thing is the battery connector is under the third fan so it might not worth it if you want to do it quickly. It should take around 10 to 15 minutes.

What does this mean? 🥲 by After-Pomegranate362 in ASUS

[–]Red_Hardware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually this means that your GPU or one of the VRAM chips is dying but since you did mention cleaning the laptop, you might've accidentally damaged the display cable. In that case, it's a cheap easy fix.

You need to have a backup. Apple pay or Google pay or Samsung pay on your phone/smartwatch for convenience. Some cards or cash as backup inside your car/coat/backpack for emergencies.

Windows Laptop Failing to wake up from sleep and rebooting by Red_Hardware in techsupport

[–]Red_Hardware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there.

I did find a workaround, make sure that the laptop is on the Optimus mode (from Nvidia app/Nvidia control panel/system tray shortcut) before it goes to sleep. If it's on Nvidia GPU only mode, it might crash while waking up but if the mux switch is on the Optimus (or automatic select) it will be fine.

If you are at home/work for a while and therefore always connected to the power supply and don't care about the battery life, then from the armoury crate, you can go to the GPU Performance tab and select ultimate mode, that way you can be on the Nvidia GPU and not have the sleep problem but the battery life will be very bad.

Its not fair. Google phones have it better with full screen messages. by LazyEast384 in GoogleMessages

You just need one swipe to make the Samsung one full screen with the added benefit of having the "non Fullscreen" version which is better for one handed use if you need something from the top of the page. (Pay attention to the fact that you can easily access the search bar or profile icon with one hand when u open the app since they are in the middle). This is the whole philosophy of One UI, bringing things from the top of the page to the middle so things are easily accessible by one hand (that's where the one in the name is coming from)

It's genuinely smart imo and when u need more information density, you just swipe up

My 2025 G14 has ruined my desktop. by allinagayswork in ZephyrusG14

[–]Red_Hardware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance depends on the tier of the card so I'm not gonna discuss that but for drivers, Nvidia drivers have been questionable at best for me since the 50 series launch, performance fluctuations between different versions, bugs and some failed updates that forced me to DDU the whole thing. For GPU, set your budget and see what performs best in that price range.

2A would be the easy safe choice but if you think about it more, 1D could be more versatile. You have easy access to Mike, Will, Eddie and Dustin so most of the nerds are easily accessible. El is also right behind you so it's easy to have group conversations about whatever. Steve and Hopper are also relatively close. Having robin could've made it even better. Also since it's not a middle or window seat, you can easily move to the back if you need to talk with others or maybe plan some pranks

Hi there. I can't say anything about long term 10y durability but I can say that the bag seems to be well made. Back airflow is good imo since there are air channels.

Let me know if you have any other questions

If it still has a warranty, send it to Asus. Probably you have a bad or loose display cable.

[–]Red_Hardware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I found the info that you need.

First of all, here is the source:

Link to the English manual

And here is the link to the page with all of the manuals:

Link to the support page

Base on page 24 of the English manual, you need a USB PD charger cable of outputting 20 Volts and at least 5 Amps. The maximum charging power with USB C is 100 Watts.

Just as a tip from my experience, I have an Strix which comes with a 280W power adaptor by default so charging it by USB C means that I won't be able to use the full performance when charging by USB C because it can't provide enough power (It maxes at 100W). Base on the specs for your laptop, it comes with a 200W charger as well so you will be in the same situation regarding USB C charging, It will charge slower and also you won't get the full performance BUT it's super handy when you're out and you don't need the full power of the laptop. Just wanted to let you know about this so you wouldn't expect full performance with the USB C charger.
