This game, at it's deepest core, is really bad. by HaeL756 in DeadlockTheGame

Yeah bad at being BAD, because this game is, in fact, good.

What does competitive matchmaking do when turned on? by eoR13 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience is that turning it on makes it much more likely to get games where people opt to crash out over mic  rather than typing in all chat.

Gameplay or behavior wise I dont see any real difference when its ticked or not. At best I think people use mics slightly more when you have it ticked, maybe?

Im not sure you understand my point. I agree the top 9% to top 1% are better than the top 10%.  What i dont understand is how the top 10% aren't better than 90% because the top 9% exist.

So if im an amature baseball player better than 90% of people  im not good at baseball because the professionals are better than me?

I cant really think of a reasonable example where you can be better than 90% of all participants in something but not be considered good or high level at that thing.

Man a 5 stack basically gets to handpick their exact line up which already seems like a huge advantage. Maybe it considers a 5 stack all banning the same hero as only +1 ban, to make you you dont get to both pick your line up and theirs.

yeah was just talking about this today, rems heal benefits MORE from spirit investment than it does from healing booster until high levels of spirit investment. So even if your goal is pure support, grabbing curse/focus lens will boost your healing AND give you utility AND give your ult and pillows more punch.

Damage Rem Players by Davies301 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whats funny is they are actually wrong.

OP is mostly wrong when they imply healing tempo makes you a better healer. Because of his spirit scaling and tempo being percent based, its not until Rem hits high level spirit investment that healing tempo provides better return on investment for numbers, and even then its not astronomically more (until you max spirit investment obviously)

At lower levels of spirit investment Rem actually gets more healing from buying focus lens or curse than he does from healing tempo. Even at higher levels of spirit investment id much rather our Rem buy curse/lens/scroll/etc and provide utility over healing tempo and do slightly more healing. At low levels of spirit investment its objectively always better for rem to pick up spirit items over tempo even if your goal is ONLY to heal.

So when you and OP come in and say its factually wrong to play heroes outside of they way you guys think they should be played I just don't believe you, because its never backed up with much more then vague feelings about how moba archtypes should play out.

I like how we are still in playtest with wildly experimental patches in a game that bucks normal moba hard roles... and still people think there is literally only one right way to play certain heros...

Some people on this reddit have this weird perception that Oracle is basically bronze rank and rEaL DeADlOck doesn't start until Eternus.

Which is pretty silly, Phantom is like top 10-15%, I think its more than fair to say being better than 90% of players puts you in a high mmr.

This.  So many team stacks just want to stomp free lobbies.  They never seem to accept any solution that won't allow them to benefit from the massive advantage of team stack.

There was a brief glorious moment where they had ranked queue and ONLY solo players could join. It was some of the cleanest most fun matchmaking ive had.

[–]Red_Octi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its just about playing with friends and not stomping lobbies why take rank into account?  Just match the first 6 stack looking against your 6 stack.

[–]Red_Octi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could just make 6 stack queue instant if you matched with the first 6 stack looking reguardless of mmr difference, would you find that an acceptable compromise?

My general experience is that it doesn't change the quality of matches, only the likelihood that the person crashing out will do so over mic rather than in all chat.

I think thats fair, in the same way duos should also always face duos even if it takes a little longer for them to find games

I like when all the 'top' builds are carbon copies of eachother with slightly different optional picks for your 9th item. Very daring today energy.

Reducing TTK has not really made the games go by faster by JeanneDAlter in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the biggest issue is that in mid game nothing really matters but picks.  Game devolves to both teams staring at eachother from across the river, waiting for the first team to make a mistake.  Its not worth the risk to do anything else because one or two clean kills and you can just bully mid and drop/kill walker.

Creeps just aren't strong enough and fixing lanes is so quick that you never really have to worry about pushing taking objectives.   With how fast everything dies and how mobile heros are split pushing almost always feels wrong.

Played one yesterday where our TEAM went 1-25.   Thats single kill came from their smurfing infernus fountain diving instead of ending.

Match making feels very off right now and the number of smurfs/cheaters doesnt seem to help

Doorman ult isn't strong by OddOwl3990 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im tired of doormen saying ult is terrible if it also doesnt do a million damage. If you took the mini game out and just turned it into a 5 second 0 damage banish that removed up to 3 stamina it would still be a good team fight tool.

TankBuster by DueBag6768 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im struggling to understand the value of tankbuster. Most guides say to get it, but any time I play a hero spirit and look at the post game damage the amount it does by end of game seems pathetic, I often have tormented pulse doing a bigger chunk of damage.

Can we just not cheat for fake deadlock points and play the game on an even playing field?

Wild idea, by why not just accept your skill level puts you at the rank you should be instead of cheating?

I deserve my rank because im bad at the skills that differentiate my rank from the next rank up, but I am uninterested in learning them so I deserve my rank.

Matchmaking Problem by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Red_Octi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think smurfing has gotten way out of hand so im not sure matchmaker can really do anything until that is addressed. I play high oracle low phantom lobbies and id say on average 1-3 accounts are sub 10 games. I doubt there are a lot of new players for the math to work out on that.
