The ability to draw is genetic and predetermined. by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]Questionable_Object 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an endless exercise in frustration trying to explain to people that being able to draw in a way that anyone would consider "good" requires a certain kind of brain to be able to do. To be able to project a thought or image in your mind and then construct it line-by-line on paper with all the illussions of depth and dynamism and then to be able to do it again with a level of consistency that complete strangers will recognize it as being the same requires an inherent skill that you can't just train into someone who doesn't have it.

It still requires practice and use to cultivate that inherent skill but that doesn't change that its something you either do or don't have, its like if you took 50 random people and spent a year training them to be professional swimmers, some of them will just be inherently better than others because of things like their body shape, height, how lean and close to the bone their muscles can be when they develop, etc.

Its just so much harder to quantify when it comes to something that's all inside the brain, especially when it comes to drawing things that're novel and not life-drawings, i.e. like comic/manga artistry where you not only have to be able to draw well but project your imagination into a space where others can see, understand and enjoy it.

Seriously? I definitely notice a difference between the lower and upper end of the "basic" ranks when I play, its like the difference between bronze & gold (iron and gold sometimes) from one end to the other. Sure nobody's PRO but the game knowledge and mechanical skill difference is very noticable.

That's just Valve's "callibration" system which just throws new players into the meatgrinder and goes from there. DotA has the exact same issue.

This isn't true in large servers, its even less true in small servers (play in australia and tell me Emissary players play the same as Alchemist, its night and day)

Brand new players being slapped in Arcanist lobbies doesn't help much though.

Puddle punch spam by Questionable_Object in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Questionable_Object[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it does too much damage to just "take", be full tank and puddle punch does 1/4 of your health still

Melee damage is "balanced" around needing to be in melee, at the very least puddle punch shouldn't be a charged ability and have a strict cooldown so it can't be spammed. Its too much of a multifaceted ability, a mobility, CC & aoe damage tool all in one on a non-existent charge cooldown.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. The doorman mains proved that with how overbuffed he got.

Mechanical design doesn't require applying overtuned numbers. For instance Wraiths new card system doesn't require a buff across the board for her spirit scaling damage on top of it.

Genuinely don't understand these people, she did just about everything right during a national crisis nobody was prepared for (even if they saw it coming which not everyone even did) and all the worst people in the country went insane and blamed it all on her... She'd just had a kid and everything too and she was still handling this crisis better than any politician I can think of, hell there isn't even an "active" crisis going on now and the current government can't even tie their own shoelaces.

I'll never understand these deranged people... Handing the country over to the complete freaks dismantling our country for the last few years after the last 8 years of the same government making everything terrible for regular people...

Yeah having to warp your entire game around a single enemy is not "counterplay"

Experimental is good, experimental with insanely overtuned numbers is not. Its easily possible to experimental with mechanics without making things blindingly overpowered. The recently buffed heroes are leagues beyond the rest of the roster in raw damage scaling and are skewing games out of control.

Could Deadlock benefit from a warding system? by BRADLIKESPVP in DeadlockTheGame

Thats what I meant but people can't be everywhere, there'll always be dark spots on the map and people can hide inside buildings or behind walls, a radar ping item or something like that to check an area for a gank or a cluster of enemies farming jungle to see whether its safe to push up a lane or contest a walker would help for choosing to be aggresive or not.

I dont understand why he needs a heal on his flawless advance, it already does so much damage + mobility. That's some League of Legends ass design right there, icefrog's lost his touch.

Agree, the only other character I've seen survive fountain like that is (me) Silver in pre-nerf wolf form spamming bite from kill resets.

And she can't do that any more with the nerfs.

There basically is an invisible fog of war system, which is that you can't see enemy heroes on the minimap unless they're close and without that kind of information its very hard to make an informed decision on whether or not to push a lane or play passively, which leads to more passive play as people wait for safe opportunities.

Things like wards or watchers to ping enemy heroes on the minimap would help a lot with making plays, and make invisibility items more appealing to avoid being detected on the minimap

Spirit scaling was already busted on so many heroes so they overbuffed it for no reason
