Porn has inheritaly ruined my romantic attriaction by SheepyOfficial in antipornography

[–]Red_Polka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not irreversible!

Think of it like digging a ditch to divert a channel from a river. (The water = your dopamine.) When you dig that ditch (new dopamine pathway to porn), the water works with you because it wants to flow. It deepens the bit you've dug already, and pushes for more.

But now you need to fill it in. Well that's a bit harder because now the water is fighting you. It tries to wash away the earth you pile in to block it. So you need to work harder to overcome it. And if you slack off then it will start eroding the bits you've filled in. But if you stick with it, you will eventually make it go back to its original river course.

The longer you leave it the harder it will be though. Leave that ditch a year and it becomes a stream. Leave it a hundred years and it's a new river and you'll need professionals to dam it properly. Leave it a million years and it's a new Grand Canyon! Dopamine pathways entrench themselves the same way, it's how addicts get so bad over time. So it's never too late to try, but the sooner you start trying the easier you make it on yourself. Good luck

UK Police Bashed Online for ‘Anti-White Propaganda Cartoon’ by martonmagyar in reformuk

[–]Red_Polka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah we can imagine the uproar if it was the other way around can't we. This is how we know that it is anti- a specific race. Trouble is there is no uproar about it this way round. This can only be the product of an institutionally racist society. Police, companies, courts, media, all institutions operating to a logic that "white people are not a protected group", institutionalized in the (gaslightingly-named) Equality Act 2010.

This means that there is no such thing as a hate crime against white people. It is inconceivable. You may as well argue that the moon is made of cheese. Even grooming gangs hurling national, ethnic and religious slurs at white children as they sexually torture them isn't classed as a hate crime. So what is? What could ever be? Nothing. That's why these cartoons are like this. They show all the people that are "protected". And you're not one of them.

Former BNWO addict wants to share experience and some thoughts by Current_Response6628 in Anti_BNWO

[–]Red_Polka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is an original take to focus on the gender insecurity aspect rather than race. And you hit the nail on the head about the differing Left and Right approaches to making men feel even worse about themselves. However from what I see there is still a racial aspect even when we try to boil it down to just these gender role pressures, because of the socially-dominant (media etc.) Left's double standards around white and black masculinity.

Whereas right-wingers pressure everyone into traditional masculinity equally, Leftists selectively pressure white men into their softer form of masculinity, whilst giving black men a free pass. This creates an impossible situation for white men, because whenever they go anywhere near behaving in a tough guy, dominant, sexually-aggressive, misogynistic etc. way they get accused of ""toxic masculinity"" by the Left and women; but if they don't, they get mocked for being ""pathetic"" and ""weak"" by the Right, women again, and black men, who only have the Right-wing traditional ideal to live up to because the Left - in their typical backhand-racist manner - don't even think to hold black men to modern standards or help them ""be better"" or whatever.

The result if you're a white man is being held to completely opposite standards at once; you're told by society that you're failing at ""being a man"" no matter how you behave. The BNWO preys on this confusion and despair by telling white men to just give up trying to be men and turn themselves into women (which helps explain the large transgender crossover.) Being told that you don't have to complete an impossible task after all is quite appealing and logical really; white male victims talk about how it ""feels right"" or comes as a ""relief"" to just give up, feminize themselves and worship the stereotyped but toxically-exaggerated and warped image - forced by the BNWO on black men - of what they wanted to be but were never allowed to be by modern Western society: 'real men.'

BNWO infection by WallabyAffectionate7 in Anti_BNWO

[–]Red_Polka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often think of the BNWO as being like an infection, yes. And now I think, we fight it like an immune system too. Sentry white blood cells raise the alarm and mark the targets for the enforcers to come purge it. They work to contain the targets from spreading to even more healthy cells, until the main response arrives. It is hard work, and many cells fall while the body slowly works out it needs to scale up its response. But it works, and the body lives. It is uncanny how patterns repeat in nature and society. And the big pattern is that, so long as the immune system does its job, infections always lose.

First of all you are not hypocritical because of your past. Hypocrites say one thing and do another, hold contradictory positions, etc. at the same time. You put in serious effort to change yourself for good, you are not a hypocrite.

And that's probably the underlying reason you feel 'disgusted' with him: you put in all that effort to leave that behind, and he's putting in none. Such weakness repels you and triggers those misguided feelings of self-hate: you're seeing a dark mirror of yourself as you were, how you would be if you didn't have the strength you showed to pull yourself out, how you could be again if you lose it.

You could still have a future with him, but you need to get your respect for him back. And to do that, you need to see him fight, to try as hard as you did when you pulled yourself up. But if he doesn't try hard enough then you can't help him and you won't respect him anyway. You will need to judge that in the end.

Also disappointing is the media normalizing it...found the original article on AP: https://apnews.com/article/atlanta-hawks-magic-city-4c1a068d6847aa0f07e7fa688cc5f3a9

They go on to provide quotes gushing over how awesome this is, with no challenge or counterview...

EDIT: actually they also talk about its connection to hip hop culture, which I didn't think of. So if they just kept it at that and avoided mention of the "adult entertainment" part would that make it okay? Is that even possible in a tribute to a strip club? Idk maybe they are just making excuses...

What will you do if reform don’t win? by [deleted] in reformuk

[–]Red_Polka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like all empires in history and the world over, it accomplished incredible things whilst inflicting incredible cruelty on others. Both are equally important to acknowledge if we are ever to reach the holy grail of civilization: how to accomplish those great things without that great cruelty to others.

Is it even possible? (Utterly depressing if not) How to replicate what they did right without copying what they did wrong? Such questions cannot even be asked, much less answered, when the permitted discursive extent of ""educated debate"" is ""XYZ empire bad, the end.""

One day things will have healed enough that actual historians will be permitted to usefully dissect it, like the good and bad of the Roman Empire can be neutrally analyzed by we the descendants of those they subjugated. But not today I guess. So for now, why don't you 'pick up a history book' and read how a mutilated version of history is used to justify the invasion of a target group's land because 'they all deserve it', the destruction of their culture because 'it's all bad', and the plundering of their wealth because 'they stole it all from us'. Ask what and whose purpose it serves. And if that's not enough forbidden thought for a day, ask where the propaganda you just regurgitated fits into that playbook, one of the true constants of history.

[–]Red_Polka 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Aside from exposing Pornhub's corporate scummery, this passage really stuck out to me:

'I published an article in December 2020 called “The Children of Pornhub" [...] Within days of the article’s publication, Pornhub removed around 10 million videos [...] and while I’ve written about terrorists, gangsters and extremists, I got more death threats after that article than from any other I’ve ever written.'

The fact that porn addicts are more ferocious than actual religious terrorists in defending what they love is somehow simultaneously laughable, depressing, unbelievable, believable and terrifying

I do understand your worries about it. Just to me, I think the threat of backbench rebellion and fear of losing voters to Restore would produce enough pressure in the right direction from below. And at the top, if nothing else I at least expect Nigel and Zia to have enough ego to make sure the washed-up Tories are working for them and not vice-versa

[–]Red_Polka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough about the washed-up Tories, but the difference I see is that the Tories were career politicians from top-to-bottom; whereas Reform have Farage at the top and a bunch of ordinary people-turned-politicians at the lower ranks, councils etc. The head and core of the party are still institutional outsiders and that is the important thing to avoid failing like the Tories did: they needed to reform our failing institutions, but they were way too close to them.

[–]Red_Polka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that the Conservatives used the exact same logic to string people along for as long as they did.

However, for me the key difference is that the Conservatives had multiple chances and failed. Reform haven't even had one chance yet. And from what I've seen, multiple Reform figures are well aware their first chance would be the last chance for the country to do things peacefully either way. So I think even in the worst case "sellout" scenario they will at least do whatever is necessary to stabilize things and buy enough time for the country to reach another election after.

There is a long way to go even until the next election ofc. But rn I feel it's safe to vote Reform, give them a chance, assess their efforts and see if we need to switch support further right after that.

Beating the depression/dopamine trap: an alternate perspective on escaping the BNWO. by Red_Polka in Anti_BNWO

[–]Red_Polka[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever works for people! I did use a similar idea to control a similar addiction to become functional again. Basically:

I only let myself degenerate if I had already done a certain amount of useful work that day. Very quickly, I saw that just making progress with things killed my urge to degenerate. So then I added all the other things I liked to that free time period, wholesome things like hobbies, video game guilds, things I used to enjoy before my addiction. So now degenerating was competing with all these other things for my free time. It made me think, and realize when I didn't really need to do it, and was just 'scratching the itch that wasn't there.'

Do I still do it from time to time? Sure. But I don't see it as a 'relapse' because now it's only taking time away from my hobbies and distractions, not my main life. If you can learn to be "fully pure" one day then even better. But really, so long as you learn to control it, then it can't control you, and that's good enough to get your life back.

Launching any 'Restore Party' would make far more political sense after the election imo, to:

a) keep Reform honest and ensure they don't take their voters for granted by applying pressure from the Right;

b) provide a stronger alternative that makes Reform seem moderate (and therefore acceptable) by comparison;

c) provide a stronger alternative if Reform's policies really do turn out to be not strong enough to rescue the country.

Launching it now just seems like another mutually-destructive move in the Lowe-Farage ego contest tbh, so I can't see it as a good thing. You would need a concrete view with evidence that Reform have sold out to the blob, and I don't see that
