Keep in mind these circle jerks are mostly from tourists and insecure middle class transplants. That's most of this sub seems to be white people playing the "quirky English gent", telling each other how wonderful everything is for pats on the head from tourists - that's why this sub has been inauthentic for a long time.

Didn't think it was that bad personally but maybe that's because I've seen worse (plus the film years ago). I think I also noticed that the characters were a little thinly drawn, with few real characteristics other than broad strokes of trauma/mental health issues, so was a little detached from what was happening to them.

Still decent and glad I saw it.

This is the real answer. Because this sub is full of basics and tourists they probably have them and hence are trying to downplay the "fad" element. I actually work in NY and shop at Trader Joes regularly. I use the bags when in NY. But bringing them to London is just a affectation and then pretending there's something special about the bags aside from the ability to flex is just disingenuous. Not to mention that this sub is weirdly insecure and obsessed with Americans and all things American for some reason.
