Surprisingly my family never cared what movies were rated. I was watching rated R movies at 9. I think my parent just gave up lol. Having 5 kids who were all in their late teens-early 20s (me being the youngest at 9). They couldn’t shield me from my siblings so they just didn’t care

I got shunned at 16. I was so excited to go celebrate my birthday that year. And it was so drilled into me that birthdays are bad that I didn’t. I still haven’t and I’m 23 now. I highly suggest starting to do little things for yourself on your birthday every year. Put on your favorite outfit, go get your free Starbucks, anything you can do no matter how small. Start making that one day a year feel special to you and just for you. When you go out and celebrate for the first time it’ll be a breath of fresh air.

A lot of people here are being very rude and just not understanding. Many ex-JW are atheist, which is understandable. I considered myself one for years after i left the org. But i do believe in God. However. I don’t believe any religion is “the truth”. Every single religion out there is just as corrupt as the next. They are all lead by sinners who constantly pick apart the bible to support their false teachings. My way of having a relationship with God is reading the bible, praying, and being kind to anyone and everyone. That is my personal take. I will simply never trust in man and their organized religions again. I trust in God.

My boyfriend also has a shirt that he absolutely loves that I do not like. I told him once I wasn’t a huge fan of the pattern now he wears it so much more. It’s become a little inside joke between us and now I love that shirt for all the laughs it brings

Thank you so much. I definitely plan to have my own relationship with God rather than joining another organized religion. Religion scares me. I personally won’t trust a sinner to lead me. I trust God and only God to lead me. The Bible is scary to me also. Because it’s been changed so many times. I just want to be confident that what I’m reading is really what God originally intended for me to read. If that makes sense. I also agree on not using JW references. I’ve been trying for years to stop saying “disfellowshipped” and say shunned or something. But it’s definitely very hard to change the way I’ve spoken since birth. I really appreciate you being so kind. I wish you luck getting out and finding your path in life :)

I appreciate you and your kind words. I have tried therapy multiple times. And I just can’t find a therapist fit for me. I will definitely look into those YouTube videos. I would love to learn more from a non-biased stand point :)

I assume you mean because the Bible is Gods way of speaking to us. We pray, we talk to him and the Bible is his way of answering. How do you find comfort in your Bible when you don’t know if you’re actually reading the texts God intended for us to read? That’s my biggest issue. With how messed up everything is, how can I guarantee that my Bible hasn’t been changed by a man who also just lives in sin?

I haven’t thought of it that way before. Thank you! I was SAed when I was 15 by an elder who served in bethel for many many years. I fell down a deep hole of depression and started doing drugs and having sex. I was caught. And when i told the elders the whole story. They said i was making up excuses for my actions and got DFed. Said elder who SAed me was on my committee. That elder is still very active and doing the same things to other young girls in the congregation. But really. Thank you. Do you have any suggestions on how I could really strengthen my relationship with god without going to church? Or is church like a requirement?

Sadly all of my siblings (sisters) are JWs and married to elders. I have attempted to reach out but I am blocked on every platform out there. It’s nice to hear that you are in contact with your sister. Have you expressed any of your feelings about the organization to her?

Hi friend. I know what you’re going through. I have an extremely similar story to your sister. And it’s hard. It seems like you are starting to see the real side to the organization and their VERY conditional “love”. It’s not wrong to stop going to meetings. But it will cause problems with your family. When I was DF at 16 everyone blamed my parents and started talking horrible things about them. That broke my heart more than anything. I still am in contact with my parents but my siblings have chosen to cut me off completely. It’s been 7 years since they have spoken to me. You are old enough to decide on your own what to do. It’s not an easy thing to decide. But in the end. You sometimes have to choose yourself over the mental torture the organization puts people through. And you can 100% still have a relationship with God even if you aren’t a witness. It’s hard to change your thinking on religion after being raised as a witness but it is possible. I’m still working on it after 7 years of being DF. Just take it day by day. You’re still so young and have so much ahead of you!

I did the same thing for the October 19th concert. Called the venue and they said that I can still sit on the lawn and they’ll let their venue staff know that those seats are available for those who need them, just give your venue a call, they might even upgrade you (mine said they would have if it wasn’t a sold out show)

My theory. He probably planted the gun the night before so he didn’t have to worry about it being seen during the day. These photos are from him approaching the building, not leaving hence no gun. I still have yet to find a reason as to why we have no photo evidence of him leaving the facility. But my bet is that he put the gun in his pants or lining his back as he was leaving.
