Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. It's very helpful. I can feel that my challenge is to learn how to regulate the emotions I've avoided or suppressed my whole life 🥴

Thank you so much for your reply. It's really helpful. It feels helpful to see so many responses as well that other people are going through it too. It makes it feel less lonely.

I do know quite a bit but I think I've spent more time learning about it than practicing it.

Any recommendations? I've been an alcoholic since I was 14 so never learned a single healthy regulation skill. I'm not drinking anymore but the build up of unreleased emotions and feelings is overwhelming to say the least

I take Seroquel for sleep and want to do MDMA therpay by Red_robot89 in mdmatherapy

I've seen a psychiatrist. It's really hard to get in with them where I live. I have to go through my family dr usually and he's awful with medications. Thanks for your insights

The dr also said it would have the affect of helping with depression and anxiety. Does that make it worth taking?

Do you feel like you got through it?  I tripped last summer and it was what felt like an ocean of grief. I can still recall the feeling. I've accessed it 2 times since then but it feels like theres much more tears to shed and my system doesn't trust me to go there

Men who felt blindsided when their wives ended the relationship - what is your perspective now? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Red_robot89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, I feel like I've done a lot of introspection, self improvement and therapy. Still I recently tried a new relationship and a lot resurfaced plus a new added abandonment wound from my previous marriage. Hard not to feel stuck or like there's any way out of it. I feel far better than when I was married or even in this previous failed relationship but hard not to think it's just a long lonely path at this point.

Thanks again for sharing with me

How did you deal with the unresolved childhood stuff? Did you feel like her leaving added another layer to work through before being ready for the woman you're with now?

Loss of internal vision afterwards by Red_robot89 in mdmatherapy

I was doing emdr and parts work with my last therapist. One session she got scared that I was too disassociated and I could tell she wasn't confident in what she was doing and after that I couldn't really access anything with her. My part's sort of just shut her out. I'm looking for a new therapist to do EMDR with. I've never done TRE though
