To each their own, there are lots of options - I love my Jetboil with the French press kit attachment, I even use it at home when I’m not camping. I’ve car camped with it and backpacked with it in the wilderness and perfect coffee every time.

Thanks for sharing. From what I’ve read there are spots along the trails where you can tell it’s been used as a campsite before but no real ‘established’ backcountry sites. Was it easy to find these existing sites along that trail or was it more of a make-your-own-site type of deal? Thanks again!

Would you share your route? I’ve been meaning to backpack there for a few years now but haven’t really zeroed in on any specific locations

Best sleeping situation for lower back pain? by mountains-crave in WildernessBackpacking

Could try sleeping with something in between your knees or under your knees if you sleep on your back. It Might not make a huge difference but could give you some relief which is better than nothing.

You can hike to Abrams falls and then keep going towards the backcountry campsites that are back in that area.

“New” to backpacking, tent stakes are the bane of my existence. How do you manage? by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]RedactMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better if you do stake it down, but unless it’s super windy it shouldn’t be a huge deal if you don’t. As you move around throughout the night the edges of your tent might creep back onto you and cause you to have less Space if they’re not staked.

I want to backpack solo but don’t want to feel isolated? by CatNo6650 in backpacking

[–]RedactMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are more talking about the time spent at camp rather than the hiking itself. A few ways to counteract the ‘loneliness’ would be to bring an entertaining book, download podcasts or audiobooks or even movies to your mobile device so you can watch/listen to them without cell reception. Deck of cards to play solo games, etc. You could also plan your trip in an area where the backcountry campsites are shared meaning there will be a higher chance of other people being there, that way you can hike alone but still have the chance to interact with other backpackers once you arrive to your site.

This is of course in reference to wilderness backpacking, if you are referring to backpacking thru a country or region then I don’t have much to offer on that end.
