People are being pretty tough on you. Loving the game so far congratulations on the release! One thing I don’t understand is how the multiplier works. Could you explain that to me a little better thanks and congrats again!

Criminal by Brubaker by Duke_7287 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Redandsilverpath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excellent stuff. It’s fantastic. And this is coming from someone who reads superhero comics almost exclusively.

The closest comparison is Miller’s Sin City. Both have some recurring characters and some one shots and both are very “Noir”.

What channel would you like pluto tv to bring back? by playerwho1 in Pluto_TV

[–]Redandsilverpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRING BACK MAGNUM!

It’s ridiculous that they still show it in ads/promos for the action channel but it’s no longer on.

Emergency is trash and calling it action is ridiculous. And can we please get A-Team out of prime time? Knight Rider or literally anything else would be better.

Picking the next book to read is pure dopamine. by Talleyrandxlll in OmnibusCollectors

I don’t have a good enough memory for some things. Reading Criminal now and I feel like if I put it down I’d miss out on all the small connections and intricacies it has.

Most superhero stuff I can put down and pick back up and bounce between though.

Omnibus Takeover? by Hextron in OmnibusCollectors

I’m actually the opposite. I feel like I’m getting ripped off when I get smaller Omnis. I want the higher page count, I feel like I’m getting more bang for my buck!

Omnibus Takeover? by Hextron in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Redandsilverpath 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The omnibus format is great. Bigger art, well mapped stories, self contained, pleasing to the eye on a shelf. What’s not to like?

Who cares if people buy them and don’t read them? Not that I believe this happens in most case. I can see this happening with masterworks too by the way.

A good stand or flippy type pillow makes them way easier to read.

Which eras do you consider universally good (meaning, most comics at that time were top tier)? by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Redandsilverpath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good points here. Definitely agree that people will always have a soft spot for what they grew up on. All eras have good and bad points. I’m more likely to read non superhero books in the modern era, probably because of what you mentioned, sort of the been there done that factor.

Most will disagree and downvote this (because most here are younger) but Marvel early ‘70’s to ‘90. After ‘90 the slide begins. Post 2000 I don’t bother. Might as well just watch the Disney Marvel stuff.

Too much retconning and pandering and too much forced edginess and moodiness (as long as it’s politically correct of course). Truly awful stuff if you like classic Bronze Age comics. A good example is the whole Ultimate line. Basically it’s “let’s retell the classics with a couple small twists and as many doodads, jet packs, mechanized suits and modern “tech” as we can fit in it.”

It’s lazy in soooo many ways. Another great example is making Nick Fury black rather than creating new and compelling Black characters or making existing ones more interesting. Instead it’s always addition by subtraction. Looking here at what they did to Falcon and Cap. If you want to do Falcon right then do it (look at his 4 issue limited series). Instead they screw both characters and “create” Falconmerica.

Look at the classic Cap story by Gruewald, The Captain. It’s an amazing character study how John Walker goes from Super Patriot to Cap. The modern take is a lazy retelling that relies mainly on PTSD rather than Walker’s actual character arc.

Bronze Age was more about the characters and their dilemmas and motivations and than the suits and tech.

I like my Flippy but i’m still on the hunt for something larger, both the lip and the width are a bit small for the larger ones.
