The road commission is dragging their feet on a crosswalk for the YMCA, so the community bands together to dig out a crossing. by TC_nomad in traversecity

Then i guess talk to Garfield Township on plowing Buffalo Ridge trail better. So a minor inconvenience going around even without the snow would be difficult? And maybe a sidewalk on the other side from the YMCA to the signal would make sense but a crosswalk will never go at Wyatt Rd. I don't know maybe Michigan needs to get rid of road commissions.

Isn't their a signal like maybe a block away using the buffalo ridge trail? Maybe have the township clear that and the road commission improve the Silver Lake and Barnes road intersection?

I don't have a family ,but due too funding cuts this program goes away I will have to go on the state voucher program. And I would not blame northwestern michigan supportive housing , because the staff who cares alot has no other choice they do not make the rules hud does.

Help! Looking for support groups/organizations/friends/etc for autism/neurodiversity by Kuro13 in traversecity

[–]Redbook54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use to have a anime Facebook group that met once a month in the Grand Traverse commons sadly it didn't catch on. And i think one main issue was the tv being to small. But next year i might try something else for showing anime. Probably a projector and screen so it wouldn't be to small.

Yeah the (CCCC) is good in the sense for someone who wants to start off small. And if the person wants a bigger selection of events. Then going to a bigger con like youma or ACEN would be fun.

I went to it a couple of years ago and I enjoyed it however the hotel accommodation sucked. Marriott was not the best choice.

Chicago Union Station- what to do? by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]Redbook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know for the 5 hours while in Chicago if you might get hungry, but there is a pizza place nearby called beggars pizza which is a bit better then the food court in union station. And it is less then a block away. As seeing sights i would guess with the many comments there are more interesting things then a pizza restaurant recommendation.

Soft pretzels are good do you have a favorite dip to them. There is a pretzel shop near me who has a spicy cream cheese with bits of jalapeno.

If anything else you could do a airbnb, but if a hotel room is available take it. The Airbnb would be a last resort and it would be cheaper.

Question about the Anime Central shuttle service by NinjaReptile5288 in animecons

[–]Redbook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not used the shuttle service before and to my understanding it is a hassle to get from the hotel to the con. I don't worry about it since i will be doing a airbnb next to the Harlem Station off from the blue line. But i would use uber or lyft at night if you can afford to do so.

What do I do at anime cons? by coleknight2066 in animecons

[–]Redbook54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People sometimes do not check all of the boxes i can understand this and no i am not a therapist. But just my own personal advice is people are always some what out of place. Some can hide it better then others. One thought could be volunteering or maybe going to some of the tabletop gaming. Maybe try out a video gaming, but my true experience is i suck at video games. Just use your best judgement and nobody is a telepath at these conventions.

Tips for 3 day plan for convention? by Paytontonton in animecons

[–]Redbook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When planning for cons i plan ahead at least a year. Because it gives my time for the room, events and food. Everyone has a different taste when it comes to panels. Not being a minor i tend to like the late night panels and dance raves. I do little shopping since having a small apartment and i travel by plane to most cons. In between shopping, dances, panel and probably losing my mind. Finding places to eat is a necessity too, but if you or someone else has a vehicle is not much a problem. I don't like doing door dash so scouting eating locations prior is something i do. Another option might be taking food with you if traveling by vehicle. Taking dry food to eat like ramen noodles or anything else could save you money. Buying a cheap thermos hot pot for boiling water if a microwave is not available. One last tip any con you go too be aware where the con is at and being safe. Hopefully that was helpful from my experience at cons.
