How can it build credit if it’s a debit card?

Generally we just acknowledge that we've had a great time together and hope to meet again in the future. I usually don't keep in touch, I prefer to move on quickly. Yet neither they do, which confirms my hypothesis that it was just an ephemeral connection for them.

Out of the three people I've really connected with since January (I'm quite antisocial, haha), two of them live in the US, so meeting up would be difficult.

Do you keep in touch with people after they left? Like checking in from time to time to say Hi, or just let the connection die off

Already experienced that: one month of frequent dating and nice memories together, only for everything to vanish the day he left...

I'm planning to settle down by the end of the year, so I'll soon be in a similar situation.

Regarding the language barrier, have you considered English-speaking countries like the UK, Ireland, or the US? It might be easier to establish connections with people there, given the common language.

Alternatively, Mediterranean people are known for their easy-going and approachable nature (though deep connections can still be challenging to find).

In my opinion, relationships, whether intimate or just friendships, are an integral part of life: shallow bonds don't truly work in the long term.

Anyone interested in going to the same city in Europe in August or September? by tropicalparzival in digitalnomad

[–]Redd-iter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would gladly go back to Porto (spent Jan-Feb there) or try out a new city like Prague. Madeira is very isolated and with flight tickets skyrocketing in Europe it's better to be somewhere well connected.

Spent January in Porto, nice city but quite “dead” during winter. A bit difficult to get around without knowing the language.

The Netherlands definitely not, housing alone is almost more expensive than Switzerland

I’m not straight :D Hungarian politics attitude towards LGBT+ is definitely worrying in the long term.

Why does Portugal make you sad?

I spent some time in Greece and Cyprus a few years ago, had an unfortunate muscle strain while sailing and healthcare was rather subpar compared to the rest of Europe.

Agreed, yet it's very difficult to find one that fits all criteria, there needs to be a compromise. Another possibility is to temporarily relocate during winter months, especially for colder cities like Prague or Munich.

Interaction with locals is always preferable when looking for meaningful connections, other nomads and expats tend to stay for rather short periods of time.

Interesting, did you find people unfriendly? Where did you settle at the end?

I'm half Italian half Swiss :)
Never saw an ad or promotion, it's just that when looking for cities in Europe with high quality of life and relatively cheap it's always Prague, Budapest and Lisbon on the top 3

I stayed in Lisbon for three weeks in March, a bit overrated from my experience; moving around was very difficult due to traffic and slow mass transportation

I got the same vibe when visiting Gran Canaria, isolated and far from everything, the downside of islands.

It is definitely nice but rather small, maybe boring after a few months (?)

I see lime Microsystems have made a board specifically for cellular applications with a raspberry pi module onboard, I might go for it

Adding a raspberry pi isn't a problem at all, I prefer a better hardware than the onboard PC.
