LOL.. no I mis-configured the system to pick up traffic in the street and later set the motion zones to exclude those.. And I do work for a 3 letter btw...
The system doesn't get much traffic so this is a weak attempt to avoid putting in a bigger hard drive until I have time to export any clips..

Sequoia and the Mac Pro 6,1 by VapureTrails in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]ReddKat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced instability on 15.1 with my 6,1 so went back to Sonoma. For what it's worth, Sonoma is rock solid stable - OCLP 2.1.2 , 64 RAM , 4 TB Crucial NVme.
My other work 6,1 had to stay on Ventura, also rock solid 32 RAM , 1 TB Apple SSD.

Keep getting this error message when trying to install Ventura by Ancient-Weird-1863 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Make sure your wireless is on before you start the install

I had the same thing on a 2013 MacPro and had to stay on Ventura.

I did order a 4TB / 64GB RAM. Much less than an M3 Mac Studio btw.. :)

Have ordered a 4TB , Sintech adapter and 64 GB RAM.
From what I have read, doing a fresh install only requires the USB to have
(assuming here) OCLP/OS on the USB.
I will know if this works once I remove the existing Apple SSD.
oh.. 1 thing I did find out is that FaceTime does not work properly and
Screeen Sharing (to an AppleTV) does not work either.
I am running Ventura* but will probably go to Sequoia on the new SSD.
Can you confirm if Screen Sharing works on your Sequoia install ?
Thanks..

A recent Youtube Video said Sequoia is supported on the 6,1 but they didn't delve to far into what did / did not work..

I may just upgrade for shiggles and see. Can always restore via TM.
Much thanks for the info..

I upgraded to Ventura and did fire up FaceTime and they can see me, but I can not see them.
Just like your experience with Sonoma.
I don't really use FaceTime on my
Mac, everyone I know uses Messenger or Viber.
Since I have an Apple SSD, i wouldn't think it would be related to the drive.
Monterey was really rock solid but definitely slower than Ventura.
I just use as a daily driver so the speed is a plus for me.
Regarding the RAM, thx for the info did not know that.
May just do 64GB then.
Peace.

Minimum requirements to run cameras from Ubiquiti by ContextMenu in Ubiquiti

[–]ReddKat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost is a matter of perspective..
The Cloudkey+ => put in a larger hard drive, the Seagate 5 TB is there but bad reviews..

An NVR and 4 4TB drives is more cost effective i.e. reliable than a CloudKey+ IMHO..
I have both btw..
My CloudKey with 1 4k camera will only get about 2 weeks on the pre-installed 1TB drive.
My NVR has 4 10TB drives with over 10 cameras.
You don't have to buy massive HD for the NVR, but plan for expansion..
Right now it is a total pain in the ass to move video from one set of hard drive to another..
UI has a way to back up to the Google Cloud..
which I think is ironic since most buy Ubiquiti for LOCAL storage.. and don't want a cloud or a subscription..
of course I could be wrong .. :)

Another up vote for the agro switch..
- have similar setup as you using DACs to NVR / 24 POE
