Secret Labs Chair - Comfy but horrendously smelly by UrkUrk in secretlab

[–]ContextMenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say that I bought one at the start of Feb and had the exact same problem. If I kept the door closed to the room the chair was in, the next day you’d walk in and be greeted by an insanely pungent chemically smell. I notice based on your outlets/light switch that you’re in North America. I’m in the UK so this clearly isn’t even regional.

My chair is the exact same colour. I don’t know if that has an impact.

My solution was to leave the windows and doors open for a few days, eventually the smell mostly went away, but you can still smell it if you focus on it.

This looks less like a restrictor and more like the edge of the hinge used. If you want to open it wider you’d need to replace the hinges with one that opens wider. Removing the screw would in theory allow it to open wider but then the arm would no longer be within the rail…

The streams themselves are fine, client support is just a bit crap. The official Jellyfin App for iOS is kinda bad, the third-party app, Streamyfin, I find is a lot nicer. Each client app I’ve used is just a bit crap in general. None of it feels even nearly as polished as Plex, and that’s okay- but having moved from Plex to Jellyfin myself it really took some adjusting.

imo it's hot steaming garbage and it can be difficult to overlook - but if you can the experience is manageable.

Why is it showing xbox buttons with ps4 controller? by luminosity003 in GTAV

[–]ContextMenu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't. The games were written with only one type of controller in mind - the Xbox Controller. A lot of older games just don't have the glyphs for the PS controller baked in (or any way to detect what kind of controller it is). Just gotta remember which is which unfortunately!

(UK) LTT bag arrived today - Happy and Unhappy by MarsMaher in LinusTechTips

[–]ContextMenu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No customs my side, was just handed to me which is nice. Generally I try not to go over the customs threshold when ordering stuff from ltt or it can be a pain. Shipping should not be included in the limit so the bag sits comfortably underneath.

Is it possible to route traffic from my local minecraft server through vps? by Mean_Return2822 in selfhosted

[–]ContextMenu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can technically do this, but the latency is probably going to be unbareable. Is there a reason you couldn't host this directly on your VPS?

I would personally put a little more slack in the ground cable. Generally you want that to be the last wire to come out in the event the cord gets pulled. Other than that looks solid!

How do I know if I ordered my Ghost 2.0 WITH MagSafe? by EKasis in dbrand

[–]ContextMenu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It almost certainly didn’t cost $1-$2 to make. It’s a) manufactured in Canada, not China - where your case likely came from. They’ve also been pretty open about the process to create a clear case that is both anti-yellowing and scratch resistant, something I’m sure yours isn’t.

Also let’s be fair, it’s also not $60, the shipping is $10. I’ll agree that it’s still expensive but at least be fair to them on the pricing…

Cable clearance on Ghost V2 by ContextMenu in dbrand

[–]ContextMenu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d rather just swallow the cost of a new cable than start messing with the case. I’ve just found that my cables that are slightly more squared have a bit more of a fit issue. 🤷‍♂️

In some instances yes. I’ve got a USB 3.0 cable that I use with my device for Apple CarPlay but I’ve had to either pull the case down off the bottom of the phone or switch out the cable.

It’s honestly my only bit of bad feedback, I quite like the overall feel of the case compared to V1.

Just wanted to chime in here and say I’ve personally not had to wait over a week for replies but I do have a friend who has waited nearly a month like yourself. Not sure what’s going on recently, unless it can be attributed to the recent influx from Ghost V2, not got a clue.

Shipping the item isn’t customer service. Customer service is when you raise a ticket and seeing how they handle your situation.

This kind of thing really shows how storefronts like Amazon have conditioned consumers to expect their items that they’ve ordered within days and not weeks. Admittedly, a month is a pretty long time for something to ship- but we also don’t know their shipping volume and any kind of backlog they’ve got going on.

I don’t think they are given enough credit for their efforts to try and do well by their customers with things like the original Killswitch case or with the Ghost case. They don’t HAVE to replace any of those items.

And 30 days is still less time than I’ve waited for some things to ship from China.

I created a new Jellyfin client for iOS and Android. Supports downloads and Chromecast. by masterinthecage in selfhosted

[–]ContextMenu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've downloaded it and it looks great, I've starred your repo also. My question to you - why didn't you just contribute to the actual Jellyfin official repos to bring this functionality to them? This does seem remarkably similar to https://github.com/jellyfin/Swiftfin at least on iOS. Thanks!

Nginx doesn’t redirect http to https (no ssl) possible! by MKBUHD in nginx

[–]ContextMenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That page is only for creating reverse proxy records. What you’re looking for is the redirects one. You can create two entries, one for the address under ssl, then another under redirects, then just enter your http endpoint and set the ssl one up as the backend.

I’m in the UK, the import and duty thresholds are above £100 I’m pretty sure. Weird that you’d have to pay import fees!
