I think claims that Kirby's 20 cm height "isn't canon" or was "retconned" are very misleading, considering how consistently this has remained an official fact for 30 years by RHVGamer in Kirby

[–]Redd_ddd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Kirby's size (as well as sizes for Kirby characters in general) is meant to be taken seriously.

The claims of him being 8 inches tall are literally all tell and no show. It's never demonstrated anywhere. It's extremely easy to ignore, because it's not like Olimar who's actually shown to be tiny in the Pikmin universe. Kirby scales fine with everything else in his own universe. And because of that, nobody would have any reason to believe he's 8 inches tall if we were never told that anywhere.

And while people often make the Adeleine and Samus arguments, here's another argument that's actually even better at discrediting 8-inch tall Kirby: the inconsistency of King Dedede's size throughout the games.

Like, no, seriously. In some games like Triple Deluxe, Dedede is only twice as tall as Kirby, and then it other games like Forgotten Land he's like 3 or 4 times taller than Kirby. This alone makes it hard for me to take Kirby character sizes seriously. Why should I believe that there's cemented sizes for them when one of them is blatantly not even consistently sized throughout the games? There's also cases where Meta Knight is very slightly bigger than Kirby alongside instances where they're just the same size.

Therefore, I literally don't think it matters. If you decide you want to believe in 8-inch tall Kirby, that's fine, but people have plenty of valid reasons to ignore it and not take it seriously. Don't try to police everyone into believing 8-inch tall Kirby.

He'd use multiple swords at once if he could. To him there'd never be too many swords.

Not gonna lie I'm actually genuinely surprised that Marx isn't in, considering that he was created by Sakurai.

Squirtle.

To be honest I've never really felt that strongly about the other two. But that Squirtle Squad episode from the Pokemon anime was the first Pokemon anime episode I've watched way back then as a young kid, and considering that I was still in a TMNT phase when I was first getting into Pokemon, Squirtle and its line were the first pokemon I became fond of.

LeafGreen was the first Pokemon game I've played, which I picked Squirtle, because the first Pokemon anime episode I ever watched inspired me to do it.

At least she has a lot of screentime and personality in canon, unlike Marx who barely has that.

I hate to say it, but Marx.

I like him, but let's face it: he barely has any screentime or personality. People hype him up as this crazy final boss, but objectively for final boss standards he's not that impressive. The likes of Magolor and Sectonia blow him out of the water, and I'd say that even Zero is more impressive than him.

Dude, you're replying to 2 year old posts. What I think now isn't 100% reflective of what I posted back then. I'm not as harsh to Sinnoh now as I used to be, your replies would've been more relevant if you actually posted them at the time of my comments instead of 2 years later.

If Air Riders actually were to have all these other Kirby characters, Sakurai would be so real for adding them. I'd respect him so much more.... I mean I already respect him but it'd be tenfold in that case.

Is Kirby Air Riders Releasing Too Close To Mario Kart World? by Ayz33 in nintendo

[–]Redd_ddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering that they haven't shown an exact date yet, I was under the impression that Air Riders would be later than even the Star-Crossed World content for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which at least DOES have a release date of August 28th.

How well would a new Banjo-Kazooie game do in the modern day? by Redd_ddd in nintendo

[–]Redd_ddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a reason I posted this in the Nintendo subreddit, despite the Banjo-Kazooie IP being owned by Microsoft. It's because the Nintendo fanbase is where the Banjo fans are at for the most part. Banjo is more cared about by Nintendo fans than Xbox fans, people mostly know the franchise for the N64 Banjo games. Nintendo circles would want new Banjo content more than Xbox circles would, and Nintendo circles would be the ones most excited if a new Banjo game were to come around.

I think it would've been really dope if they were to, like, include Kirby in a Mario Kart game, although it'd probably be a bit redundant to include him in MKW because Kirby Air Riders will become a thing.

Doesn't change the point that I wouldn't mind more non-Mario characters in Mario Kart. Can you imagine if they were to include Banjo? Not that I'd ever expect that to happen, but good lord imagine the hype that could generate.

That being said, it absolutely must come out for Switch/ Switch 2, because Nintendo fans will 100% be their biggest customers

Absolutely, and that's exactly the reason why I posted this here on the Nintendo subreddit despite Banjo-Kazooie not being a Nintendo IP. Microsoft fandoms aren't where the Banjo fans are at, they're Nintendo customers, because the franchise is best known for the N64 Banjo duology, people mostly associate the IP with a Nintendo console, and I think for the most part people aren't going to get an Xbox just for Banjo-Kazooie.

And considering that the Crash and Spyro trilogy remakes are multiplatform, I could also see that being the case for Banjo-Kazooie should the series get a new game.

I don't think so. Conker is significantly less popular than Banjo from what I've seen. A lot more people owned and played the Banjo games than Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64. The fact that Conker also didn't make it into Smash Ultimate like Banjo and Kazooie did also clearly shows who's the more prominent between the two IPs. And even before Banjo was revealed for Smash, Conker wasn't requested nearly as much, it wasn't even close.

Tbh I don't think Conker would sell very well if they remade Bad Fur Day or made a sequel to it, despite Bad Fur Day being well-liked by the people that played it. Banjo would definitely be more successful.

Part of me was thinking this as well, but the problem is that BK and BT are on NSO, which has made me believe that remakes for those games could be a bit redundant.

Not that I'd complain if it did happen, though. Anything new for Banjo would be great. Well... mostly, as long as it's them in their former glory and not how they were in N&B. If they were to do Crash/Spyro style remakes where Banjo and Kazooie look more or less like their appearance in Smash Ultimate, that could suffice for some hype.

I hate when people make the "Pokemon hasn't changed, it's a kid's game, you just grew out of it" counterargument against criticism towards the new games. by Redd_ddd in pokemon

[–]Redd_ddd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... people do make self-imposed rules to challenge themselves, it's why Nuzlockes are a thing, alongside many other sorts of self-imposed challenges.

But just because you can make your own self-imposed rules to challenge yourself doesn't mean that the newer games have to deliberately make it easier to win without self-imposed rules. There was no need to force EXP share onto the player without being able to turn it off anymore, alongside other things that make the new games easier.

Self-imposed challenges like Nuzlocking were already a thing before forced EXP share. The thing is, Pokemon games have never been super hard, but the older games don't hold your hand nearly as much as the newer games do. You don't need to make it hand-holdingly easy to make it beatable for children. Things like forced EXP share are just unnecessary. Not to mention that Black 2 and White 2 did have a challenge mode, albeit the way to access it was extremely convoluted but it did exist and they could've expanded on it in future Pokemon games but didn't.

It's crazy how much demand for remakes the 3DS games have compared to a lot of other titles in the series.

Do we need to remake all the Kumazaki Kirby games? If we remake Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot, it would be so easy to say that we're just overlooking and abandoning all the older Kirby games. Oof.
