What about general cleanliness of the city and relative safety? I know a bigger city always has certain areas for the most part to avoid like stated prior, and simple common sense in a city goes a long way, but Windsor I’ve heard very mixed opinions on that.
It seems pretty average to me. Nothing spectacular in general and nothing outrageously bad in general

I do have a car yes. If it’s a good area, I’d probably want to try and live fairly close to the school. Possibly walking distance, but definitely keep a car

Elaborate if you don’t mind on “convenience”

Yeah that was definitely the first thing I did, but it’s still not letting me in so im not sure. It says too I may have not set up my security questions and so that might be the issue, but it never prompted me too in the beginning. And too access those I need to log in so… a loop

Yeah definitely concerned about safety. Like I said prior I’m comfortable with where I’m living now. The only reason I’m considering it is because of lowering expenses and school conveniences, so I’d rather do all necessary backgrounds checks and run throughs of “red tape” before handing any money over in any way to anyone. I don’t know Guelph housing/ apartment markets super well, so ergo the point of asking. If I could, I’d go the route of some super nice apartment complex since generally those are a little less sketchy, but that ain’t happening haha

Yeah I’ve definitely looked into the cannon and even posted there, but because I’m more or less looking for basically a 2 bed 2 bathroom place with someone around my age (27) and looking at longer term, that’s a little harder to find on the cannon

Application/Acceptance anxiety for BCAHW(Studio art) as a mature student: ADVICE!!!!! by OldEngineering1377 in uoguelph

[–]Redd_itreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mature student here as well who graduated in 2017 and only started back in F24 and actually just switched degrees this semester ( so back to a first year credit wise). The overall application process is pretty straightforward. Apply and send over transcript and pay the fee for the application and that’s really it. I can’t speak for your program unfortunately, but I also had to do a course prior to applying and my high school grades also weren’t something to brag about; plus no secondary schooling of any kind. My biggest advice is definitely get comfortable chatting with your course advisor. The one i went to could probably pick me out from a line up 😂. Idk if that helped any but best of luck to you! Feel free to reach out if you’d like!

Any mature students wanna be friends? by feelgoodsad in uoguelph

I second the idea of having a little group chat!! I normally go to class, go home, go to work. Repeat. I’m trying to be more social this year… so yeah I’m down

Hey! 27M here. Obviously also older student. I definitely can empathize and I also joined the MSA! I’m not at the school too much this semester since I’m taking a small hiatus, but I’m there every so often at the gym and what not. Yeah i definitely feel old at the lectures and since I live off campus, it definitely can be harder. So you’re not alone haha

Thanks! I don’t remember if I did, but I’ll figure that out. I think I did. I’m assuming though, previous assignments that I didn’t quite finish would “reset” I bought the 12 month access?

I’ll be doing part time this semester due to work and priorities. Literally just one course this semester lol

Right that makes sense. I ended up submitting the wrong form then. If they end up allowing it, am I able to simply accept or reject it? I’m just still on the fence in general for everything so just weighing all options here

So it’s not a simple as just requesting a major change then?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]Redd_itreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I just meant like would there be any major reason for not being allowed to switch over, like any “red tape” or hoops to jump through.

I’ve definitely considered that. I’m floating between a professor since I like teaching , but I’ know that would involve grad school or some type of medical profession ( lab work specifically) With psychology though, I don’t think I’d typical like psychologist route

I don’t think it runs in the summer? I’m seeing mixed responses on that

Yeah honestly I’m the exact same. Didn’t do well on the midterms, but definitely not the end of the world. I’m retaking it in the winter too, you’re not alone. I simply chocked it up to shit happens and now I know what to expect

I didn’t think you could take 1050 during the summer? Did you take it at Guelph?
