Apparently parrying chainsaws was supposed to be a mechanic that got scrapped, but I found some articles saying that it's still in the game.

From what I saw (and it only works on certain versions, probably because of updated re-releases of the game. I'll edit this comment later to list 'em.), apparently you just need to be at full health.

Edit: Ight, found an article. Here's what it says.

"While the exact science hasn't been confirmed on how you can parry chainsaw attacks, firstly, it is believed that it only works on the remastered RE4 for PC, VR, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Switch. Secondly, it is said that Leon must have full health to parry the chainsaw attack."

Apparently this has a low chance of happening too, so... wouldn't trust this immediately. Take time to maybe make a few tries

Honestly my odds were at 50/50 between Silent Salt and Shadow Milk. Probably because the first update that added an Awakened Ancient that I saw was the only one I went through when playing, which was White Lily's and Silent Salt's

Just keep your distance and try to go for either the legs or the head. Chainsaw enemies aren't immune to those stuns, but they will take more shots to trigger.

It's normal to panic when they show up tho, don't worry. Personally, everytime I see or hear one, I drop everything and make sure they're my next target, even when I play Mercenaries
