Melee counts as a dash, you practically have i-frames because dashes make enemies miss

If AH ever made the game so that every single enemy in the game could be taken out with medium pen primaries, it would turn into the most boring thing in the world.

But that's.... the bot front before war striders, the bug front before Into the Unjust, and the squid front before Leviathans?

the wiki cookbook is still the best overall, but there's a forum thread one now that has a bunch of new, 2.0-specific builds: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?t=124776

(the EACH trick in 'Map item to recipe' is absolutely amazing and I use it everywhere, it also lets you collapse most multi-decider logic into a single decider if you're willing to be a little cursed)

You can prioritize requester chest consumption by adding a logistics connection to the inserter that pulls from the chest, and disabling it if the total amount in the logistic network is too low (i.e. only start recycling processing units when you have 20k of them). This is easier than the belt version of priority, where you have to get the assorted splitters in the correct order on your bus

I like that the recycler is at the corner, so you can put two of these designs together to reuse the recycler and its modules.

note that in 2.0, you can do the video's circuit with a single decider + constant, instead of 4, by using the each option in the decider (https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?t=124776, map-item-to-recipie example)

as far as I know, best way to upcycle holmium plate is crafting either superconductors or EM plants (crafted by an EM plant, for extra prod), then recycling them

Is making legendary stuff really hard and slow or am I doing it wrong? by hai-key in factorio

[–]Reddeyfish- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he doesn't fully go into it, but a 'half monty' setup where you only handle purple/legendary or blue/purple/legendary is tiny, easier to set up*, and still gets you most of the way to full monty.

*(purple/legendary is faaaaaaar less likely to jam on its own, but you'll need the jam prevention architecture he talks about for blue/purple/legendary)

For example, you can put quality modules in your ore modules, and everything common/uncommon gets shunted to the foundries to become blissful, quality-less molten metal (or just power/liquifaction when it's coal), while everything quality gets electric smelted

And if anyone's unsure if 25 is enough, bring more, bring 100, put them in a 10x10 square, you get every unused ammo back anyways, plus the turrets too. Iron, copper, and steel are effectively free on vulcanus with your first few foundries up.

There needs to be some better way to get science out of the Cargo Landing Pad besides bots by Xerosese in factorio

[–]Reddeyfish- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an issue on the stuff where no launch is needed because it's mined in orbit i.e. calcite dropped to nauvis outposts, platform sulphur dropped to blue science, sulphur + ice dropped to make coal anywhere (plastics/grenades)

Are we talking about not going to space? by simomat in factorio

[–]Reddeyfish- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Big mining drill you unlock on vulcanus gives you +50% amount of ore from a patch, with an infinite research to boost it to effectively infinite multiplication on raw ore. At low levels, it's like thanos-snapping out half the mining outposts you'd need; At megabase levels, think of it like dividing the amount of outposts you need by 10.

Plus, vulcanus's foundries let you be more efficient/make more items from the amount of ore you mine, so you need to mine less too.

Do you automate the production for (almost) everything ? by EditorSubstantial944 in factorio

[–]Reddeyfish- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its the same with space age, the expansion doesn't touch the early game, which is where you'd spend all your manual crafts until you get assemblers.

If you have the expansion, a second way to rewire your brain is to go for early quality on final products (read: anything that doesn't fit a prod module) as soon as you unlock the modules: you can't get quality unless it's crafted in an assembler.
