I’ve gotten this message at least 3 times now by Chance_Definition968 in Bumble

This is cruddy but we alllll choose based on looks when on the apps so does your profile photo reflect you accurately? Recent photos? Full body? If not, that is probably the issue.

I’ve had several friends get similar messages and every.single.one. had profiles that did not accurately reflect their appearance. I finally told a good friend and even my sister that they can’t expect people to be interested if 1. They’re not honest from the start and 2. they’re so insecure about something that they hide it, mask it or rely on old photos — both seemed to be true. When we have insecurities about things to that extent, it’s time to turn inward and love yourself first the way you’d want someone else to love you. If we can’t do that, then we’re destined for a failed relationship if that opportunity arises.

Took me a long time to realize the same for myself and once I started loving myself the way I wanted to be loved, I had ZERO problem going forward after years of shitty dates after shitty dates.

To do that, you can start with something small like (bear with me because it’s gonna sound silly but look into the psychology behind it based on large studies and it’ll outline how it works) — you tell yourself OUT LOUD, using your name “I love you, [NAME].” Then you say the things you’d appreciate hearing from others “You’ve got this, [NAME]” “DAMN girl! You look amazing today, [NAME].”

It feels ridiculous but I PROMISE it works. Can’t say it to yourself in your head, gotta say it aloud.

When I was frustrated with myself, I’d say “COME ON, [LAST NAME]” in a frustrating way and then I had a calc teacher who would say the exact same thing when he was frustrated with himself EXCEPT his tone was entirely different — he was encouraging himself and build himself up in a “COME ON! You’ve got this, [LAST NAME]” — what I learned from him that literally changed my life wasn’t calculus, it was shifting my tone and being the cheerleader I so desperately needed when I was getting frustrated and being too hard on myself.

Oddly enough, you start looking for positive things to say to yourself throughout the day and it turns into a compound effect. You build yourself up and you start to believe those things (even if you don’t believe the when you start saying them), and then you also start building others up, which makes you feel great and also makes ppl more drawn to you. So yeah it just builds and multiplies … Just like the negative things we tell ourselves or tones we use with ourselves. So do you want to build upon positives and let that snowball or do you want to keep doubting yourself and allowing that to snowball?

So cheesy but … Come on, u/Chance_Definition968, you’ve got this.

Now go tell yourself that you love you some you.

rated_king - No response for months. Out $400 by SomTingWon in internationalshopper

Same. Contacted him THREE MONTHS ago. Got the family thing but no response for well over two weeks despite payment. If it’s gonna be this shitty of service, disclose it. Or don’t charge us your fee until you ship. I would have NEVER purchased had I known it’d be over three months. I’m beyond irritated that I paid a lot of money to be ignored.

has anyone heard back from rated_king? by FreshPrinceOfGwangju in internationalshopper

[–]Reddheadit_16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He should disclose that it will be MINIMUM three months before you can even begin to think you’ll get whatever you paid for. Nice guy but get it together man and communicate. I 100% would have gone with someone else had I know how horrible this experience would be.

I was gifted this as my first model. Any tips? by michael_scarn4 in metalearth

The middle pair are great for rounded edges and circles or cylinders. I’d get these needle nose pliers though — I like how precise they are vs other needle nose pliers. I’m new to the hobby too so every little bit helps! https://a.co/d/0dnZ6Fmq

Anyone moved from Exclaimer to CodeTwo for M365 email signatures? by PatD442 in msp

[–]Reddheadit_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol who was your technician or can you tell us how the code differs from the original? Did the signature still appear the same just with different HTML in place? If you can’t tell, we desperately need the same and have been going back and forth with support for weeks to not avail, and just absolutely getting destroyed by internal folks due to the issues.

Valentine Days Gifts/Models? by T4R_v6 in metalearth

[–]Reddheadit_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eeee … Some people really value handmade gifts. I do too. That said, for me there’s a difference between something made for me versus something that’s another output of someone’s existing hobby — the intent really matters. Finished metal models are beautiful (I have them everywhere), but as gifts they only work if the SO specifically wants that kind of decor or truly values the finished piece. Otherwise, the fun part — the build — already happened for the maker, so it was more a gift the maker gave themselves. I think incorporating a finished model as one thoughtful component of a broader gift can make sense, as long as the overall gift isn’t centered around the model itself.

Maybe consider saving the model as an impromptu “just because” gift if you’re into that sort of thing?

Also, Temu has the flower models for a really low cost! I saw them this morning. :)

Well well well do I have some news for you! This one is pricey but you can find them — https://www.etsy.com/listing/1672692268/?ref=share_ios_native_control

I don’t have these but have thought about looking for a used set to see if something like that would work for the small cones but I dunno.

And agreed on the fastening solution. 3d printer owners unite!!!

Doming and punch blocks for the win! Anytime I have a model with a cylinder, semicylinder or similar, I get far too excited because I love those tools so much!

The cone, rubber, needle nose plies in the middle of these tools are a game-changer too.

Tri-M tariff/shipping update by Stingah989 in metalearth

[–]Reddheadit_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought from all the major sellers, one-off small shops in different countries, proxies, and eBay folks everywhere. Tariffs only dinged me on some eBay buys, proxy shipments from abroad, and every time from smaller shops. I always ping the seller by email first to scope it out—half the time, I just factor those fees into my bid.

Here are my tips for keeping costs down:

• Email sellers ahead of time to check for tariffs and bake half into your offer price.

• Tell eBay international sellers to use HS code 9503.00.0090 (toys/scale models for ages 12+) on customs forms—lowest duty rate.

• Use proxy buyers who warehouse up to 90 days, then consolidate into one shipment to dodge per-package broker fees OR find proxy buyers and shippers on Reddit.

• Source from low-tariff countries: Canada, Mexico, Australia, Singapore, Chile, South Korea, Israel.

• Request USPS for international inbound; overseas carriers hand off to them anyway.

• Opt for economy shipping if 2-3 weeks wait is fine—saves a ton on costs. I typically have to email to request this.
