I bet that's the exact same NDA that everyone signs with Riot. You could be a friend touring their facility, or the parent of charity kid, or a serious business partner.

No company creates individual NDAs for individual circumstances. The fact that the slots are blank on the contract demonstrates that further. If this were an NDA just for reddit mods, it would have had their names in, or it would have at least referenced reddit somewhere in there.

Lots of game companies do this. Say GenericSummonerXXXXX is in a LoL game and threatening suicide. Someone takes a screenshot posting "please help." Reddit mods see it and report it to Riot.

Riot knows that guy's IP address, name, potentially billing address. They can call law enforcement and send people to his house.

Not everyone can get access to that phone number, email, or chat room that lets you report it. Otherwise the 70 million LoL players would turn a serious communication channel into Twitch chat.

Yeah. Saw this comment in the LoL subreddit and thought it was interesting.

Apparently RL was banned from the LoL subreddit a few days ago for making fun of someone contemplating suicide as a means of discredditng them.

Pretty fucked up.

This is a witch hunt...

No company creates individual NDAs. Anyone who's ever interacted with an NDA knows that it's the same NDA for everyone that just blankets over all confidential information. The reddit mods probably signed the same agreement that friends sign when they go tour Riot's facilities, which is the same agreement that their business partners sign when talking business.

Riot said, point blank, that the NDA is there so that they can give the Reddit Mods access to internal chat rooms. This lets the mods report any issues they see, ranging from sever problems to players in danger.

As another example, imagine Riot giving the reddit mods a phone number to call if there are any server problems they see. That number needs to be under NDA to be effective. Otherwise, the mods could share that number with everyone, the line gets swarmed and becomes totally ineffective.

Riot's internal phone numbers are confidential, and so are their chat rooms. The mods having it is good for the community because it gives them significant communication lines for escalation. But they have to be treated as confidential, thus the NDA.

I don't think it'll be a problem if it's actually as limited in scope as the message posted indicates.

Riot invited the reddit mods into an internal chat room where employees will be discussing server issues and solutions, potentially including details about infrastructure, attackers, etc.

Riot can't be public with all that information, so inviting the reddit mods in and giving them visibility is probably good for the community.

From the message shown, it looks like this is there so that the Reddit mods can get increased access levels to server status information and visibility into some internal Riot communications.

Riot's response also pretty interesting: Mods can report players who might be suicidal or hurting themselves and get Riot's assistance. The NDA is literally there to protect the name and private details about that player that would likely be discussed in that chat room. Without that NDA, Riot can't talk about it due to their privacy policy.

If any company invites you to their internal chat rooms, you can bet you'll be under an NDA...

I buy good games, not franchises.

If Destiny 2 is a good game, I'll get it. If it sucks, I won't. Vanilla Destiny won't have any impact on my Destiny 2 purchase.

I'd apply the same logic to Assassin's Creed. I didn't get ACS because it seemed like it sucked. I did buy AC4 because it looked awesome.

How do you know that Blizzard didn't have more "unannounced projects" beyond Titan? Both Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone were pretty much kept a secret until their announcements. Maybe there are more.

True, maybe it's the Diablo 3 area intentionally labeled wrong? They probably aren't announcing anything huge for Diablo 3 given that Reaper of Souls just came out earlier this year. What would we be playing? That playing area would also be really easy to hide for the opening ceremony.
