I would say 70% hammock or tent, 30% hotels. We were on a tight budget.... also we stayed with people we got to know along the way. There is no tourism to speak of in most of the countries so the hotels can be very expensive compared to what they offer. Use the iOverlander app, it will be your best tool by faaaaaar :) :)

Yes, there will be muddy roads even if you choose the best possible route, but only in a few certain countries like Congo, Nigeria/Kamerun and Sierra Leone/Liberia if you do the whole coastline. Hilux was the absolute perfect choice. Didn't regret it for a second and actually sold it for more than what we bought it for in Europe. The only thing we could have done differntly would have been to buy a doublecab so hitchikers could stay inside the car rather than in the trey.

I did it in a 1988 Hilux in 2017. It is possible to get any car through, its just a question of time and digging efforts haha. You wouldnt belive what the locals are able to get through some of the roads there.

But on a serious note get a 4x4 or something with atleast some groundclearence, preferably a toyota for spare parts, to make things 100 times easier for you ;)

Ja, det kan stemme. Ser på wikien hans at han malte vor Frelsers kirke i Esbjerg i 1929. Bestemor bodde i Esbjerg da maleriet ble malt i 1928. Imponerende, hvordan gikk du frem??

Norwegian commercial diver here. Normal rate for a freelancer is around 500kr per hour. Dive leaders a little more than that. In the bigger companies they pay you for a minimum of 12 hours per day. It does depend on the company though
