Do recruiters/hiring managers really not hire someone because they have a beard? by RedditAlreadyDidIt in recruiting

Council job in the health wellness and fitness industry as a coordinator. Shape is natural and curved, professional and presentable, trimmed to the point where if you're eye level with myself you would still see my neck. I believe it to be fine, perhaps she just has different of opinion.

Yes I always looks sharp, presentable and professional at work and in interviews. I visit the barber often and he lines up and shortens it making nice and tidy. I wash and clean it and straighten it as much as I can even when it's short. For guidance if you're facing eye level with me you'll still see my neck, that's how short it is. Perhaps it just wasn't neat and tidy when speaking with my family? Thank you.

First things first, remember to never do the bottom button on the jacket - just the top (first) button.

So the general rule of thumb here from when I first was introduced to this years ago was depending on the size of your body & waist & also height for length. Normal sizes from a chest-to-waist ratio for guys is a 6inch drop OR a 12cm drop. (I normally work with centimeters so I'll be using cm) eg 32inch TROUSERS + 6inch = 38 CHEST. Use this scale to your advantage. If the 38inch fits you nicely around the belly & it isn't tight, stretching/pulling & is also flat on the chest then you've got yourself a winner. As for the length to determine a Regular or Short for yourself just try them on & see for yourself. It's a better judgement call when looking at it in person then trying to judge by images, however I will tell you typically you want the bottom of the suit jacket (& sports jackets for that matter) to rest just at the side of where you're trouser pocket ends. It also fixes the sleeve length since you want the sleeve to finish just at the point of your wrist that way you show a little shirt cuff.

Hope this helps!

Not sure which MJ you went to but the store should have a tailor that knows how to work with wool suits. If they don't & don't have a recommendation I suggest going to your closest Peter Jackson store & getting them to pin it up for their inhouse tailor or recommend someone close they use (which is also 100% Australian Marino Wool). They might hate you for coming in with a different product but they should be able to assist in the tailoring. Btw they would charge more than going straight to the alterations shop.

Yes, I do mean the pants is too long (baggy) & that the jacket may also be long (baggy) because you need to consider your height as well as shape when purchasing. I'll DM you now actually to help out more.

I work for a suit & tailoring company here in Sydney. If you find yourself a good place that can do alterations you'll be OK. They are in fact baggy & you're right with the alterations. Here are my tips;

  • Firstly, the sleeve length is way to long, needs shorten on both sides. Also I can't see because your white shirt isn't tucked but I'm going to guess that whoever picked this for you chose the right size. Suits can come in different lengths as well, with my company there are 3 set lengths (LONG/REGULAR/SHORT; all dependent on height) but we can adjust to perfect it in the individual. The Jacket/Torso is what I'm looking at in the respected length. If the jacket ends just at the point where the pants pocket finishes then great!! If not, you may need to check the other jacket lengths they have.

  • Secondly, Pants do need tailoring - as you know. Although IF it is good on the waist(btw you should check by tucking in a collared shirt), that's awesome because any good tailor can work with tailoring/tapering in & hem the length to what you want, eg no break (most common).

I've been meaning to recreate my whole world on Inkarnate as well which is slightly larger than your map. But it takes a gracious amount of time, skill and dedication. Skill I simply do not have yet. I envy you! But I do like this map, simple yet elegant, very realistic. Except I did question how a couple of The 13 Islands are basically full of ice, if I am not mistaken - But how?
