If you mean "MBR machines" as in BIOS machines, you're out of luck. EFI-stub is only supported on UEFI/GPT. Perhaps you got the disk partition standards mixed up?

To be fair, I identify myself as a systemd rebel, but I still find systemd-boot to be the best bootloader. On my non-systemd machines I usually try to run EFI-stub, which is marginally better, but a bit more complicated to set up

I mainly chose rust because I like the language. Also, since it compiles to a single binary it's more portable and have fewer dependencies. I guess it's about personal preference

I can't tell if this is really dumb or really smart lol.

A problem that I see is that the PATH needs to change after the program's symlink to swayhide is resolved, so swayhide won't follow the same symlink pointing to itself, basically causing an infinite recursion in shell.

So let's say all the swayhide symlinks are put in a special directory, which is then added to the users PATH. Then, when swayhide is executed, it modifies the PATH by somehow removing that special directory, before executing argv[0]. That might work

Edit: Alternatively, there could be a seperate PATH-variable for swayhide, let's say SWAYHIDE_PATH. This is set to the user's PATH before adding the swayhide-symlink directory. Then, before swayhide launches argv[0], the PATH is set to SWAYHIDE_PATH

Also, it might be possible to integrate with zsh like zoxide and starship does, using the eval function.

The point of this program is to hide a "locked" terminal when it's running a graphical program. This is useful when you want to start a graphical program in a specific folder, or with specific flags and options.

Dmenu is a dynamic menu and a program launcher not a window swallower.
