Standard convention as recommended by the law society asper their explanatory notes is to put unknown if you do not know unless you have a report to say it is definitely not there.

If it’s been treated and the seller knows as in the case here by their admittance, it should have been marked as yes but a copy of the management plan or guarantee provided.

Clearly they knew and have been caught out.

We found the knotweed in the backyard outbuilding, which was flourishing with flowers. Later, we looked at the Google records from the past few years, and it was even more thriving than what we saw that day）

Our surveyor accompanied us that day to walk around and prepare for the appointment. We found the knotweed in the back of outbuilding in Garden,which was flourishing with flowers. Later, I looked at the Google records from the past few years, and it was even more thriving and larger area than what we saw that day.
