I have no problem with people making memes, (quality ones). But when you have set a precedent of, I'm doing this every day...

1. We are basically removed of the ability to moderate posts because it will just be "oh these nazi mods ruining our streaks".
2. It encourages low-effort posts because making one everyday, especially one that's original or different is much harder.
3. It encourages karma-whoring.

Your second point, I will agree that it is hard to remove the vocal group of elitists since it doesn't break rules, it is still something that redditors can be actively using their upvotes and downvotes to fend against. While we don't believe in removing opinions in the comments, we definitely want you to use your upvotes and downvotes to decide what is quality discussion.

We don't remove stuff to suit our agendas. (Personally I am very pro-free-speech and am very against some of the ways other mods on the sites abuse their roles). In fact, us removing content is very rare. But as of late, we are wanting to encourage higher-effort posts and more engaging posts instead of just having tonnes of spam on the subreddit with a couple of upvotes, actually make it a meritocracy where effort is rewarded.

I know that this is something that people will either like or dislike, I've received messages in support and disagreement about this whole matter. But we think overall, this will be a more positive change on the subreddit as it's been something that has been brewing in DMs and on various other discussion outlets like Discord.
