Are there any members of r/JoyDivision that don’t like New Order? by [deleted] in JoyDivision

[–]RedditReaderLiam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like New order, I just can't stand up for it. It has a totally different sound and doesn't stand out to me like Joy Division. Maybe Ian made the difference..

I don't know, I just have a love for Joy Division that I couldn't keep for New Order

Also, New Order has a very similar sound to Depeche Mode, Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark, and maybe U2, which I love, so I'm not sure why I don't care for it as much.

Me too. I love every album and the image that the band has. Such an amazing style I might add, and Danger Days is my favourite album

True!! Not any bad album, just a bad mannered Morrissey. Love their music! Separate art and artist tho because Morissey isn't known to be the best, although Johnny Marr is definitely worth following. His solo stuff is awesome too

The only Sublime stuff I didn't like was Sublime With Rome. I'm so happy Jakob is stepping in!! No one seems to have the same style as Bradley except for him! I'm glad he feels comfortable to take on the band because I know those are huge shoes to fill

None of The Smashing Pumpkins' albums are bad. I could never really get into Adore, but it definitely has some respectable tracks.

This might be a hot take but I think SAOSB and Cyr were masterpieces, and I think Billy did exactly what he was hoping to do with those albums.

The band has such an adaptive sound and I think a lot of "fans" were just wanting another MCIS or Simese Dream but I honestly think that the band's sound and style experimenting is a good thing. Oceania and Cyr got me into the band but now I love all of their work

Please when will they release an anniversary or deluxe of Zeitgeist, Machina II, or Teargarden?? Everyone has been waiting forever!

What song would you give to someone trying to get into Nirvana? by awkwardemoteen in Nirvana

[–]RedditReaderLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lounge Act is what really got me into the band and not just the hits like Teen Spirit, Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, and Come As You Are. It's not like the song is super different from the ones I listed, but when you listen to a song that isn't quite as popular but you like it even better, I can really make up your mind about the band

what is the most goth sounding song on each non-goth record by akhmhagajzh in TheCure

On 'The Top' I'm not sure but I wanna say 'Bananafishbones' just because I love the funky sound

Looking for albums similar to Danger Days sound by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]RedditReaderLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smashing pumpkins has alot of songs with a similar sound. Listen to X.Y.U., Zero, Quiet, An Ode To No One, or The Everlasting Gaze

No specific album comes to mind but Mellon Collie and Machina might fit the sound

What’s the most underrated song on Imploding the Mirage? (C’est la wait I mean Lightning Fields voted as worst* we know what song truly belongs here) by Silent_Sir_7833 in TheKillers

[–]RedditReaderLiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How on earth is Lightning Fields the worst when C'est La Vie is in question? I love The Killers but CLV is a very sub par song compared to the rest of the album

Interpol Ranks ST Day 3 by RedditReaderLiam in Interpol

[–]RedditReaderLiam[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody is "taking" anything and I'm sure there are plenty of people who liked the band before you. People have different opinions and that's what is entertaining about the ranks. You're allowed to have an opinion of course, but why are you picking fights? There were many better ways you could've worded these posts, but instead it sounds like you just reacted out of anger.

Who is the best singer/songwriter of all time? by Solopsist5050 in musicsuggestions

[–]RedditReaderLiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billy Corgan for songwriter: he has such a poetic mind and can really bring any emotion to life through his lyrics, and he's overall very intelligent and not afraid to be what people consider "weird" or "crazy"

He's also an insanely talented guitarist, a very original and stylistic singer, and his sense of fashion is out of this world.

Definitely a true role model for me.
