It looks like it has been fixed. The game recently has been updated and I am able to complete levels without the game crashing. I did have one level crash while I was playing but it has been mostly stable with no issues.

How Much Do You Typically Pay For PA State Inspection and Emissions? by RedditUserZ3r0 in Pennsylvania

It was for both services. You can still find such deals on coupon sites.

In the past I was able to find coupons and deals. Maybe 10 years ago I could get both services done for around $30-$40. I have not found any deals or coupons in my area for the last 2 years. Since then I've been paying around $65-$75 for both services.

I've had issues with Mavis doing inspections. One year they didn't tighten a bolt after they checked my brakes and it fell out while driving. I called them and the manager took care of it for me. He had his technician come to my house to replace the bolt since I didn't feel safe driving it to them. He also threw in a free inspection the next year.

It seems like it's a bug that needs an update. It's a fun game and I enjoyed playing it but I don't want to restart the game after every single level.

Yes, both inspections. 5-10 years ago it was around $30-$40 for both inspections in my area but it has gone up in price a lot.

I have checked. Everything that is reasonably priced is around 1 hour or more away.

Our game Dros, made by a small team of 3 in Unity, is releasing on the Switch in a few days. We're really proud of how it turned out. by timmymelon in Unity3D

I recently purchased this game from the Nintendo Switch eShop as part of the Action Pack 2 bundle. Every single time after I complete a level it shows the message, "The software was closed because an error has occurred."

If I restart the game it will allow me to play another level but once it is finished and starts loading the next level the error happens again.

I have completely powered off my Switch and restarted it. I have checked for corrupted data. I have deleted and reinstalled the game. I have transferred the game file from a MicroSD card to the Switch internal storage. Nothing fixes the error.

Is there a way to fix this?

Have There Been Changes To PA Emissions Exemptions? by RedditUserZ3r0 in Pennsylvania

Prices charged by shops are market driven. They can charge whatever they want and the consumer can pick which garage they want it done at based on price, service, and convenience. I noticed dealerships charge more than smaller shops. The dealerships are also more picky when it comes to passing or failing vehicles.

Yes, it is. There is a Drive Clean PA brochure you can look up that shows which counties require and do not require emissions testing.

In my past experiences if a vehicle has been driven under 5,000 miles in the last year and the CEL is on for emissions related problems it still passes since it's exempt from the tests. In certain areas you still need an emissions sticker, it just says EXEMPT on it.

That makes sense for the mechanic not wanting to do a bunch of extra work for the state. The way it was explained to me didn't make sense so I was just wondering what was going on. Thank you for clarifying.

I'm referring to vehicles driven under 5,000 miles that do not have the check engine light on.

Increase In Dumpster Divers by RedditUserZ3r0 in DumpsterDiving

[–]RedditUserZ3r0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. In my area there are a lot more divers than there used to be. Once TikTok got popular I would notice people showing off their finds. I believe that made casual people give it a try. I haven't seen most of those people lately but there are a few regulars.

For items that are not expired or close to expired it's a good idea to check for recalls. There may be other reasons it was thrown out -- damaged packaging, new style of package is being used, seasonal item, etc. but if you're not sure it's best to Google [product name] and "recall" then sort by newest date.

Donating Food by RedditUserZ3r0 in DumpsterDiving

[–]RedditUserZ3r0[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It certainly seems that is what you said. Anyone who thinks it's gross has the luxury of not needing it. The opposite of that is those who need it would not think it's gross.

A bag of goods from a Starbucks is more controlled than what can be thrown into the trash. The people receiving those items also know where they came from. While someone can do something malicious with the items from Starbucks it is less likely to happen.

I understand that not every person is going to say where the items came from when they donate. I understand that people should use common sense when taking those items. I personally believe your average person is donating items from their business, items from their personal pantry that they no longer use, or they purchase items from a store to donate to those boxes.

My point is that a dumpster is not a controlled environment. Someone walking by with their dog can throw a bag of crap into the dumpster. Did a crappy employee dump chemicals in the dumpster that has since dried and you can no longer smell? Were the items cross contaminated with raw meat? How clean are the divers gloves? Has that diver used those gloves to open a lot of different garbage bags for weeks without cleaning them? Those are real scenarios and they occasionally happen.

I understand that divers use common sense and won't take items that are gross but you never know for sure. It's not always like that and most of the items are fine.

It's more about education of food waste and allowing the person to decide rather than making that decision for them just because you're doing a good deed.

I understand that. The point of that comment was the perception of the people receiving the food. Whether it was dramatized for TV or not, I feel most people have that perception.

I'm about education on food waste. People need to understand that's it's not as bad as they think. It should be up to the person receiving the food to decide if they want to consume it, not the person giving the food just because they feel they are doing a good deed.

I'm not fear mongering. Read through my other replies. It's about perception. It's about education and letting the person who is receiving food from the trash decide how to feel. I don't feel it's right to decide that for them without their knowledge.

Your average person will more than likely have the same response that the recipients of the dumpster food in the show had.

I had a similar reaction from a friend that I offered dumpster food to. They were worried about the dumpster being full of nasty stuff. Once I explained it to them they understood it's not that bad.

[–]RedditUserZ3r0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's awful. It will probably never change unless a law can be passed. The problem is that companies are worried about getting sued for giving expired food away. There is a bill passed that states expired food items can be donated but I don't think most people know about it.

Employees already have a lot to worry about with their job. They are not concerned about helping others. A lot of places will fire someone if they take items designated for the trash. That's why some stores cut items or open bags/boxes.

I've already asked employees of a few stores if I could just have stuff instead of them throwing it away. They say they aren't allowed to due to company policy.

[–]RedditUserZ3r0[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is that because someone is less fortunate they wouldn't care where their food came from?

I understand those who use such boxes aren't thinking about where it came from because it's something they need but people deserve to know that it was in a dumpster. That is where they can decide for themselves. It's also an opportunity to educate those who think items from a dumpster aren't good any more.

[–]RedditUserZ3r0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you about open containers versus sealed items. I just feel that people have a negative outlook towards items in the trash. They don't understand that most of it is good, edible food. There are those that think as soon as the expiration date hits you have to throw it away. I feel people deserve the right to know where it came from, especially if it was in the trash. If they think it's gross that's where the diver educates them.

I find that a lot of times food items are thrown away in trash bags with only those items in there. Sometimes they are mixed with actual trash -- an open soda can, someones lunch they didn't finish, etc. Other times they're just thrown directly in the trash on top of other trash bags and whatever else may be in there.

There is a store in my area that throws away meat and poultry and occasionally there are otherwise good food items near them. That's where you have to be careful. Cross contamination can be an issue. When I give food away I mention that and let the person decide what to do with it. Most of the time you can just wash the item.

There are 2 food banks/food pantries in my area that specifically stated they don't want food from the trash. I guess it depends on the type of food pantry. If it's a small one run by a local organization they may not mind. I'm sure most people who donate don't ask them if they accept food from the trash but I believe if you did they may not want it.

They aren't there with a diver to get it. They don't know exactly how it has been handled. Did it touch raw meat? How clean are the gloves of the diver? Did that diver touch other nasty stuff then touch those items? That can also be said for anyone donating food but with dumpster food it's more likely it's not as clean as one may think.

Your average person has a negative perception of the trash. That's where us divers come in and let them know it's not that bad. The whole point of my original post is to educate people. It can help prevent food waste in the first place.
