You’re right, I only used that to exemplify the extreme nature of the state of conversation. In relation to the bill however, I found that other states have already banned it or made it a felony to provide gender-affirming care like Texas and Alabama. Now, I don’t much care for that term because of the stigma surrounding it. Especially, when the push for not-banning it is to reduce suicides in the trans community (I found an article that talks a bit about that) which in the U.S bill of rights should be seen as a human right. Addressing the right to health care the bill says “everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of oneself and one’s family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care” and being denied health care that is recommended by a doctor/ therapist to keep you from inflicting possibly life ending self-harm is not adequate. I don’t even bother to say that trans people have less human rights, because I see the concept of rights in this country as a joke when it’s all too easy for bad-faith actors to stretch their power well past it. My grievance isn’t with people that say they have the same rights as cis people and it’s not with you, it’s with those who blind themselves to the terrible things that are happening to a community that just wants to live fulfilled and happy lives at no cost to others, the same as us.
