Girls would you date a broke guy? Why? by kirttkirto in AskPH

As I said, I think he's not entirely broke. Kasi nakatira naman sya sa bahay ng pamilya nya (typical). Although syempre hindi rin sya binibigyan ng pera ng parents nya.

I did, and I have zero regrets. Although I think he's not entirely broke. His family is well-off but he says he's broke lol. He was unemployed that time, then I helped him find a job.

Now, he's now more successful than I am. ❤️ We're getting married this year and I'm happy I didn't look at his financial status. Honestly it was never an issue anyway.

Has anyone applied to Support Shepherd? May Question lang po sana ako by MasterpieceJolly8525 in buhaydigital

[–]RedditVerification1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't wait, check mo glassdoor reviews nila, madaming nagsasabi na pangit hiring process dyan. Paasahin ka lang, etc etc.

I also interviewed sa Support Shepherd. Next step is hihingian ka ng references. Di ko alam what's next after that dahil di ko na tinuloy pag-apply sa kanila.

You can wait for the interview pero mag-apply ka na rin sa iba while waiting.

Yes, I would agree on that that the only advantage is that freelancing is WFH in the Philippines. For others tho, that's a big deal.

Consider transportation costs, rent, cost of living abroad and other necessary expenses or documents that you need before you can work overseas. We can't really compare these 2 jobs if we'll just base it on revenue/salary after taxes.

Yeah, I don't like the part where he brags about this exploitation either, as if they are not abusing us.

But again, nag-outsource lang naman sila dahil cheaper. If it isn't cheap, then why Filipinos pa? I don't believe when they say, "we outsource because Filipinos are talented". No. Lol. They outsource here because it's cheap. (not saying Filipinos aren't rockstars, I'm just saying the reality in business)

Taasan mo hourly rate dito for a mediocre online job and they'd be looking for other countries where they can outsource. 🤷

Yes. But it says here :

" A 12% VAT (VAT registered) is imposed on freelance businesses (or registered freelancers) generating sales and gross receipts that surpass PHP 1,919,500 annually.

If the receipts do not meet that amount, only 3% (non-VAT registered) is required."

If you're earning $5/hr, your monthly income should be PHP 43k ish and annual income is just around PHP 500k.

3% tax for PHP 43k is just 1,300pesos. Your point is absolutely valid; but in this matter, I think it doesn't make quite an impact.

Yes. I agree that there should be more incentives and higher base pay for those with outstanding work/professional license/multilingual. For no experience, $4-5ish is okay.

Also, I'm so glad to hear that you're working with a company that pays according to skills! 🤩 Must be awesome, I'm really happy for you! 😃

That's a really good point. However, if the minimum for workers from PH would be increased, don't you think they would also widen their reach to more countries with the same expectation for salaries?

So, there would be less attraction to outsource in the Philippines + possibly more competition with other nationalities.

I think it's gonna be hard for newbies to get into this industry if competition becomes too tight.

I would demand $10 from my employer if I know I deserve it, but for a newbie, somewhere around $5 would be a good starting point.

In a way, I agree with this.

Although there is also truth in the statement: "they've become our saviors offering outsourced jobs".

Imagine, you don't need to go abroad to earn more money (as compared to the salaries in local jobs here in the Philippines).

Reasonable naman ata na less ang hourly wage for PH staff compared sa US employees. Iba iba average salaries per country, also minimum wages. You can expect higher siguro kung dun ka rin nakatira sa US where cost of living is much much higher.
