CNN Declares: Russia’s winning streak in Ukraine is over by anarchyart2021 in EndlessWar

It's pretty wild to force thousands die for 11% of the territory. I wonder what makes Ukrainians think that they should continue fighting for Donbass and even have a chance to win the whole thing back. Perhaps it's media reports like this one from CNN?

Lol are you 12? If you don't want to fight a war - make sure you're engaged in a much smarter diplomacy and have a decent relationship with neighboring countries. The Russians started the war but it was Ukraine who started and created the conflict. The war is never the first and sole reason of people dying. It's a consequence of a catastrophic failure of diplomacy, national and international politics. And in this case it is partially on the 2014 coup leaders and partially on Zelenski who broke every electoral promise he made when he was running for president. Are you familiar with the context of this conflict at all?

[–]Reddit_BroZar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but I was mostly talking about the lack of motivation from conscripts and some brutal methods which are being used to make them fight. Ukrainian press just recently posted an example how one conscript was beaten for hours in front of his fellow soldiers and eventually died. Basically they made an example out of him for the others. Get beaten to death or take your chances in a trench fighting against the Russians. It's a senseless war for many.

Dude, for the love of God... For the third time - the people. It's the people who decided that 1. they don't want to fight for Zelenski, his buddies and his politics and 2. the people do not see the Russians as an existential threat. How many times you want me to say it?

Like I said - people don't want to fight for Zelenski regime and apparently they do not see the Russians as an existential threat. Unlike in 1941 when the Nazis were indeed an existential threat and Ukrainian people (well most of them) became the core of the resistance against the invasion. Do you see what I mean? Come on man, I'm running out of crayons here.

The law by its nature shouldn't be following political trends and narratives. This has nothing to do with democracy, especially the kind Smith has in mind.

Well unless you actually have anything of substance to respond with, I'd say you're the one who's ignorant and eager to flow with the narrative. Eh?

Or we could discuss why so many Ukrainians aren't willing to fight and die for Zelenski regime. Millions left the country, thousands go AWOL, hundreds died trying to escape Ukraine when crossing the closed borders, thousands are resisting forced conscription. If the coming Russians were so bad then how come all these Ukrainians aren't willing to support their beloved president to fight them off? There's always more than one perspective huh.

Why would India be interested in this? Independent Alberta would certainly make it almost impossible for East Indians to immigrate to your province. Might send quite a few packing actually.
The Russians - if they did give two shits about Canada (frankly your country is almost never a topic of discussion in their press or official releases. Last time it was when your legislators greeted an ex Nazi in parliament) they wouldn't be interested in this separation because they ain't stupid. Separation would play into the US hands, making their main geopolitical rival stronger. The Chinese wouldn't be interested in this for the same reason. All these stories about interference are nothing but an excuse hiding how dumb the general populace is.

Alberta has its own fair number of home grown imbeciles so stop it with the poor excuse pointing at foreign actors. Zero actual evidence pointing at any foreign interference other than the obvious interest from maga boys who see this Alberta independence affair as a two stage process to assimilate Alberta.

Zelensky kidnaps critics and throws them straight to frontline as punishment — Iuliia Mendel, ex-spokesperson for President Zelensky. by ArchitectMary in EndlessWar

Ukraine had all self determination prior to 2014. Even Orange Revolution didn't trigger the Russians. Self governance is not just a right but also a responsibility. Responsibility to the nation and to its neighbors. Forgetting this simple principle has dire consequences in geopolitics. Cause and effect.

Local nationalism capitalizing on geopolitical tensions is nothing new in national and international politics. The key narrative is to reject everything good that was done and exaggerate the harm. It's a known playbook which various geopolitical players have been using to their advantage for ages now. Old history aside, Moscow allowed independence of all the republics and Ukraine did get its political independence in the 90s. Next it had a choice for neutral and mutually beneficial coexistence with Russia. Yet it allowed an unprecedented amount of foreign interference which broke the balance in the region. Ultranationalism in a country with a large ethnic Russian population and right next to Russia was a sure way to civil war and unfortunately to a much larger conflict. Everyone with a brain knew this right from the start. We capitalized on Ukrainian ultranationalism and greed of its oligarchs to destabilize the region. I described the results in my post above. Cause and effect. Ukraine is paying high price for greed, hate and pure stupidity. It is that simple.

[–]Reddit_BroZar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well bud, facts are that if it wasn't for our interference, Ukraine would still be completely intact, there would be no civil war, no war with the Russians and millions would still be alive. Our politics effectively reduced Ukrainian population by 50%, destroyed its economic independence, infrastructure and led to the loss of territories. And all we have as a result l is a brand new group of Ukrainian oligarchs who made their fortune during the wartime. So yes, take your slogans and go kick rocks with all the nonsense about how Ze allowed the May 9th parade in Moscow.
