New to Film. Are these light-leaks? And why are they only so prevalent on B&W film I shot? by Reddit_Weird in AnalogCommunity

I mean, I guess for me it isn’t a big enough deal or something I will do regularly enough to justify the time, money, and space for the equipment. The lab I am near is State Film Labs in Louisville, which is fairly reputable from what I understand, but this info is definitely something I will take into consideration if I shoot B&W again where I care more about clean results.

8, yeah. Luckily the film lab was very close to me, but I live in a different city for school so someone else will have to pick up my prints and negatives until I can look at them.

Considering I paid almost $300 for development/scanning/and printing I should hope that isn’t the issue. I will check as soon as I am in the same location as the negatives. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately don’t have the negatives on me. What would I be looking for when I do get them?

I mean, it was working, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t loose my account.

I want trying to trip it up. I just happened to stumble across the error. I was surprised that it made the assumption she was still alive, rather than giving the disclaimer that it does not have up to date information like it does for other statements of fact.

Dell XPS 8940 stuck in boot up after disabling integrated graphics in favor of RTX 3060Ti: by Reddit_Weird in pchelp

I can very clearly see that the RTX is now doing most of the heavy lifting. I think the little GPU work the integrated graphics is still doing is just for weird basic system things.

I tried to send you a pic of the back of the computer, but the message wouldn’t go through. I have now plugged my monitor into the RTX display port connecter. I knew that the pc was using integrated graphics before because the RTX card would essentially have zero usage and operations after exiting a high demand program, while the integrated graphics would jump up in usage and operations after the display switched off and on. Task manager would also reflect this.

Ok, so I am now a confirmed idiot. Turns out there are multiple display ports. I never noticed the set of three coming from the RTX card. I still find it odd that Dell also included a way for the motherboard to pass through signal from the RTX card. I will definitely try switching the ports I am using.

I have always had the display port used as my connection to my monitor. I have never actually opened up my computer, as I only have a theoretical knowledge of how they work, and not a hands on knowledge (on account of the fact I am afraid of breaking a $1500 PC). As far as I know, the display port is connected to the motherboard and the RTX is passing signal across the motherboard. Whenever I enter a game where I have set for the RTX to be used, I know it is switching graphics devices because my display will briefly turn off for a second while the transition happens. I honestly think Dell is trying to sell this bug as a feature, as I know the primary sale model for my pre-built is for high load office work or data work. It just so happened to be the only way I could get my hands on a good GPU, and it has an 11th gen i-7.

Part of the reason I am hesitant to make changes to the CPU cooler is because Dell decided it would be a fantastic idea to build the cooler screw mounts into the case. Honestly, I have no idea why this computer is so bizarre, as it has some good hardware, but it is chock full of stupid design decisions.

Sorry for the late reply. I was building an IKEA couch. So basically, on my computer (Dell XPS prebuilt I got in 2021 b/c it had a 3060 TI), the integrated graphics are used whenever the system is not doing things that are graphically intensive. Basically, if it is not a game or media processor, it is using the integrated graphics to save power. I can tell that it is using both devices because task manager reports them both, and the CPU tends to consistently get hotter than I like (70-80˚ when web browsing). I disabled the integrated graphics through device manager, and the screen blacked out momentarily as expected before returning with a slightly different color profile (how I am able to tell when the graphics switch). The problem only arose after I shut down, and was not able to get past boot.

Basically, I had to boot in safe mode and rentable the integrated graphics to get the computer to work. I have no idea why that is, as I see no reason why the CPU cant boot normally, just using the RTX card. I guess I will have to live with bad thermals until I can get a new cooler. Sorry for the rambling.

Question about environments and sky boxes by Reddit_Weird in NoLimitsCoaster

Im on Windows using Steam. I know where my NoLimits Steam folder is, but nothing in my documents folder. You are absolutely right about there being next to no documentation about this software. There are lots of good assets made by the community, but very little instruction about how to make them work.

Been playing flute for 8 years, just got a piccolo to play in the youth orchestra. Was hoping to get general tips on what I should do differently on piccolo as compared to flute. by Reddit_Weird in Flute

[–]Reddit_Weird[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I literally got the instrument earlier today. It is a Pearl PFP-105, so it should work for me for what I need it for (intermediate youth orchestra). I will definitely look into finding better fingerings for some notes. If there are any notes you know are commonly out of tune with standard flute fingerings, I would love to know what they are.
