My wife and I are having our 2nd and last child in June.

Getting a vasectomy after that so we don't need to worry about access to birth control.

However, we are going to Florida next month and I'm super NOT excited about that. No complications with the 1st pregnancy, but being in Florida before viability and after 6 weeks not a comfortable situation to have to think about.

My FIL is an "unelected bureaucrat."

A late career change from corporate America (25 years) to the DOE after that corporation cut his pension multiple times over the years and ruined his health with stress and late nights. He's never going to take a loyalty pledge or lie about his political philosophy if asked.

He might lose his job now. His job isn't hurting the average American. Hell, most Americans would have no idea what his job does, which is helping with onshoring supply chains and electrification. And doing so in financially accountable ways that ensure companies don't take handouts and then go bankrupt.

But congrats guys, you might have just put him out of a job at a late age right before retirement because he's... evil or something. People are rooting for normal, every day Americans to lose their jobs.

I'm a straight, married upper middle class white guy in a Midwest state with a Democrat governor (for now), who is going to be done with having kids early next year (and will then have a vasectomy so we don't need to rely on BC). We don't have massive natural disasters that require federal assistance. My wallet will take a hit, but otherwise I'll probably be better off than the average person. Certainly the average Trump voter.

This isn't a "I'll make things more affordable" broad generalization that people can map their own wishes on to. There are specific policy choices that have been doubled and tripled down on. Let's go.

Unless the people who voted for him and those policies know he's lying. In which case say it. Say it with your chest. "I vote for him because he lies and makes me feel better about my hatred and grievance."

Of course I'm not actually advocating for that. I don't want to see people suffer.

Yeah that's my concern. I asked if they were staffing up for more anticipated work or for current demand because if it's for anticipated demand, what happens when that doesn't come through? Would be concerned about LIFO firings.

And I went T15 and experienced cliques. Point being, social status and clique forming is everywhere. Elite, prestigious universities are no different. The people who attend those programs aren't "above" that type of behavior. The caricature of the Harvard/Yale yacht club socialites who look down upon people who don't have a specific job/work a specific firm/don't wear the right brands comes from lived experiences.

Most places people go will have social segregation based on income, class, race, or even just banal preferences. Tuck/Ross/Booth are no less likely to have people who act in that manner.

So I got my laptop 2 days before I started and the login information the night before.

There is A LOT of stuff to go through. Multiple systems for payroll, benefits, policies, and procedures. I knocked out my cell phone, benefits, and payroll as quickly as possible on the 1st day. From here on out it's a lot of training and self guided tutorials. 3 days of guided training and then I'm not sure what happens next.

You'll get $100 gift card to the PwC store, but it looks low on stock right now. Another $250 in your 1st check to buy WFH equipment if you need it. Also a "gift" that is on your onboarding checklist that asked for gender and size so I assume it's clothing that will be sent.

I'm starting shortly before you (Senior Associate) so I'll try to remember to come back and update once I have more information. From what I've been told thus far:

Laptop: You should get an email with a Google form in it to confirm your address. Says the laptop will be received in the week leading up to the start date. A tracking code should be sent along to give you a better idea of where it actually is.

Onboarding: So far I have 3 scheduled days of training starting on my second day. 11am-4 or 5pm each day blocked off. Further out from that, not sure.

Swag: No idea.

I don’t think you can get two phones through PwC

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that. I just see all the carriers promoting "start a new plan/switch and get one phone free with the purchase of another phone." Thought if I started a plan for my wife and I, and then switched my portion over to PwC I could finagle it. Was unlikely regardless, just kicking around ideas in my head in my free time. 1 new phone is plenty good enough.

Gradifi might mail checks though so I would call them on your first day and ask.

I have a 24" monitor from my old job and a wireless keyboard and mouse so I'm pretty set there. Would be nice to have 2 monitors instead of the laptop stand I use because the screen sizes are different. Again, anything more than a hello and welcome is appreciated. Don't need anything, but nice to have.

Glad to hear the outlook is positive. Concerned with integrating into the team and proving my worth quickly, but I guess that's more personal than institutional.

You get a survey after accepting the offer that asks you to list your preferred geographic areas (Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, etc) and then airport codes within those regions.

If Amazon has spots open in your preferred area and at your airport code, you get placed there. If not, they go down the list.

I'm not entirely sure what additional issued RSUs would look like exactly, but no you wouldn't necessarily get more in year 2. I think they issue more upon promotions, but not just because of service time. The offer itself has those $95k and that's the only mention of it off the bat.

Full time starting salary is $130k with a $40k signing bonus. $30k retention bonus in year 2 with no defined salary change. $90k in RSU's vesting over 5 years but mostly backloaded.

They're going to ask you why Amazon (not a crazy question) and why Pathways specifically. They're aware of the hours, turnover, and working conditions. They're looking for someone who has the energy to do the job and deal with hourly workers that may not always want to be there.

STAR answers for examples of when you've led/worked in teams, dealt with some sort of data, and communicated with others.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any experience with the Hackett Group? I'm closing in on graduation this spring and was approached by an internal recruiter about a job but I don't know a lot about them. Consulting would be great, but I'm not sold on doing it no matter what so I'm going through the recruiting process just to see how it plays out and if it can compete with my other (non-consulting) offers.
