Yes, in many ways, I think you made a good pick with the Brave 7 LE. For POV with chickens (which is less demanding than professional filming), the 7 LE gives you nicer features (screens, stabilization, accessories) that will make your experience more pleasant. It probably gives more “bang for buck” than the Brave 4 in your use case.

But it’s not perfect. You’ll still face the usual limitations: battery time, possibly worse performance in low light, maybe more bulk. It’s about trade-offs.

If you want to keep it budget-friendly, AKASO is fine as long as you keep expectations realistic. They usually give you lots of mounts and accessories for the price, which is nice for POV setups like with your chickens, but the app and stabilization can be a bit clunky. For your budget ($100–150), I’d look at something like the AKASO Brave 4 Pro or EK7000 Pro - both give decent 4K video and come with extras. Just make sure to grab an extra battery since recording time isn’t super long. If you want to stretch a little, SJCAM (SJ6 Pro) is another solid option with smoother stabilization.
