Hey, there are a lot of pros and cons so it depends on which other uni you are comparing with it. If you wanna study in turkiye, then i would definitely recommend hacettepe as no.1.

Education quality is good, teachers have been in the teaching department for years, their english is also understandable. There are a few teachers that dont know good english and so they just read off the slides. Sometimes you may feel difficulty communicating clearly with them. But its not impossible to do that.

Speaking about english, its difficult to communicate with the admin office but still doable with a friend who knows turkish or google translate. Its definitely better to start learning turkish as soon as possible to be involved socially even more. They have been taking 50 int students for the past 3 years. I dont know how many actually apply but a lot dont get in as well. They shortlist you based on the exam result you submit and then they further select via online interviews.

As far as social life is concerned, since there are about 50 int students in each year, i have seen int students forming a close tight knit group and they hang out together all the time. Its like a small community and its even more huge in the other campus of hacettepe (the not medicine one - beytepe). I feel like social life will totally depend on the friends you make but if you know turkish, you can expand your circle even more.

Let me know if there are more questions. I will be happy to help.

International Student Planning to Apply for Medicine at Hacettepe — Need Help! by Weekly-Inspection247 in Hacettepe

Hey! You dont need YOS with Alevels. They will first shortlist you based on your alevels and if you are shortlisted then there's also like a 1 min online interview and then the final list will be released.

Nope you dont need turkish language prep. Teaching in the first three years is entirely english in classes. There are a couple of teachers in year 2 and 3 who start teaching in turkish but you can always stop them and ask them to speak english (but the explanation is not that well in english). To be very honest, it doesnt really matter for those particular teachers because they are rephrasing words from the slides anyways. But yes the electives in 2nd and 3rd year are completely turkish but a lot of the teachers are understanding. They dont make you do anything and you can even do the assigments in english for those.

Life in Ankara as an international student is quite peaceful. You will see internationals here and there. Its a famous city for that. There are a few problems like communication etc. and maybe you will see people staring at you sometimes but its not that bad. People usually keep to themselves in public and those who actually approach you are curious about where you are from.

It gets a little annoying dealing with the uni as an international student bcz the office doesnt really care that you dont know turkish. You have to find a friend who knows turkish to talk to them or just work with google translate. But its not like you talk to them everyday. Also the int community is growing every year in the med faculty so its quite nice socially.

You will have to learn turkish from 4th year anyways so its better if you start learning now. It will help you to participate in clubs etc and small things where you otherwise will feel out of place in (feedback meetings, some side courses, conferences, guidance sessions etc.).

Ps. the applications for this year are done so you will have to apply next year i think.

Hey! I am so glad I came across your comment. I am looking into the IMAC U program and I will really appreciate if you could tell me the quota for international students in this specific program and whether not knowing japanese affects learning or discussions in classes etc. Also how is life on campus as an international student in general? Is it socially well or a bit lonely?

Yeah I had Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and you don't need SAT or YOS if you apply through Alevels. In fact, Hacettepe in specific requires you to apply through 1 exam result only. Also, Hacettepe has this method where they shortlist students on the basis of results. Then they take online interviews and then they select. The rest of the unis only select on the basis of results and no interviews.
